Be part of progress at ASML: Internship Opportunity in Development & Engineering

Introduction

The Development & Engineering (D&E) sector of ASML is responsible for the specification, design, and realization of the products in the ASML portfolio. Within D&E, the Electronic Development (EDEV) department defines, realizes, and qualifies the electronic functions and modules of these products. In the Manufacturing & Equipment Engineering Source group within EDEV, we industrialize designs of electronic solutions. We are a group of more than 25 people with various backgrounds and nationalities. One of our main challenges is to manage the complexity, while having efficient processes and tools enabling it.

Your assignment

This internship assignment focuses on identifying 'waste' in manufacturing operations and processes in the EDEV department by using Lean methodology. As an intern, your tasks will include:

  • Investigate what electrical designs are currently in place within ASML
  • Analyze which electrical designs are failing the most in manufacturing using data
  • Interview stakeholders about the challenges in the current electrical designs and processes
  • Create a concept that can fulfill the needs of stakeholders
  • Discuss the proposals with stakeholders
  • Realize the selected electrical concept/design
  • Get content from the stakeholders and implement it
  • Document how the data collection and reporting is set up and how to maintain it

This is a Bachelor or Master internship with a duration of 5/6 months, working 4-5 days a week. This assignment is also suitable for a thesis project of 6 months. The expected start date is around February/March 2026.

Your Profile

To be a fit for this assignment, you:

  • Are a Bachelor or Master student in Electrical Engineering with additional knowledge or affinity in Industrial Engineering/Management
  • Have good knowledge of product development and engineering
  • Are familiar with the concepts of lean manufacturing and can apply them
  • Are good at data analysis
  • Possess logical reasoning and critical thinking
  • Have good communication skills in English (verbal and written)

Other requirements you need to meet:

  • You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship
  • Attach your cover letter with a clear motivation explaining why you are interested in this internship assignment in particular
  • You need to be located in the Netherlands to perform your internship. If you are currently living or studying outside of the Netherlands, your CV/motivation letter should include your willingness to relocate
  • If you are a non-EU citizen studying in the Netherlands, your university must be willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement)
