Purpose

  • Part of the Turnkey and Operations Finance team, the Cost Lead Expert will serve as a functional leader in their area of expertise, reporting to the Cost Performance Management Director, connecting project teams, standardizing practices, and supporting development of staff across locations.
  • In times of need, and dependent on workload, may be assigned to a project directly, taking the position of Lead Cost Engineer for an interim period as required. In such cases, the Lead Cost Engineer will report directly to the Project Control Manager and the Department Head only for the duration of their assignment on the project.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting, under the direction of the Director of CPM, the creation and upkeep of all Cost Standards and Guidelines in GEMS
  • The initiation and running of the SBM OFFSHORE ‘Cost Community of Practice’ forum
  • Participating in Project Health Checks
  • Assisting in all cost/project control related assurance reviews with respect to EXECUTE and OPERATIONS
  • Supplementing/assisting project teams in a lead capacity as and when required by the Department Cost Management team
  • Liaising with digital teams on tool improvements
  • Supporting and mentoring junior and/or new team members
  • Contributing towards lessons learned documentation

Education

  • Minimum Qualifications: HNC or Bachelors in Engineering, Quantity Surveying or Business Administration or similar. An MSc or MBA, and affiliations to Certified bodies (AACE, PMP) will be highly desirable.

Experience

  • Minimum 15 years' experience in Cost Engineering/Control, either with a tier 1 EPC Contractor or Operator in the Oil and Gas / Petrochemical industry; with minimum 'Project Lead' experience.
