When AFAS processes payroll seamlessly, when SAP handles invoicing without friction, when marketing platforms run smoothly, your decisions and solutions empower us all to serve 13.7 million customers better.

The biggest challenge

Translating between what the business needs and what tech can ship. And perfecting the science of combining solutions that work and architectures that scale. You’ll translate requirements from different domains into technical solutions while ensuring compliance with ISO 27001, GDPR, and SOC2 standards, and appeasing stakeholders who need SaaS platforms and features yesterday, while security demands in-depth vetting.

What you'll do as Solution Architect Business Support

You’ll design and guide technical solutions across our business support landscape. These include HR systems such as AFAS, financial platforms, including SAP and iValua, marketing automation tools, OKR platforms, and making these systems interoperable. Working with Business Analysts, application owners across departments, and IT Security, you’ll translate requirements into efficient, user-friendly, secure, and scalable solutions.

Your work spans the full solution lifecycle. You’ll evaluate SaaS platforms against business requirements and technical constraints. You’ll design integration patterns – APIs, middleware, data flows – that connect distinct systems into unified workflows. You’ll lead technical due diligence during vendor onboarding and ask all the right questions about security, scalability, and long-term viability. You’ll document architecture decisions so that future you (and your colleagues) understand the rationale when requirements inevitably change.

We also expect you to establish integration patterns that improve how we implement business systems. When are microservices essential? When are they overkill? Which integration platforms work best for which use cases? How heavily should we weigh vendor roadmaps when they converge with or diverge from our foreseeable needs? Your guidance helps teams move faster while avoiding technical debt that haunts us later.

• Evaluate and select SaaS platforms, assessing capabilities against business needs and technical constraints
• Lead solution design for HR, Finance, Marketing, and procurement applications
• Ensure compliance with IT security policies (ISO 27001, GDPR, SOC2)
• Document architecture decisions, data flows, and integration patterns for future reference
• Support vendor onboarding through technical due diligence and security assessments
• Design API strategies, data mapping, and middleware solutions for system interoperability
• Collaborate with IT operations to ensure smooth deployment and maintainability

You combine proven solution architecture and/or enterprise application experience with the ability to operate confidently in corporate IT environments. You understand SaaS platforms and cloud integration patterns. Not just theoretically but empirically, from having implemented them in contexts where “move fast and break things” isn’t an option. Your familiarity with IT security standards (ISO 27001, GDPR, SOC2) means you can design solutions that pass compliance review the first time.

Your hard skills – API design, data mapping, middleware platforms – are on par with your impressive ability to communicate issues with non-technical stakeholders. You can clearly motivate why their desired three-week timeline will actually require three months. You balance depth with context, and understand that while we always strive for perfection, we should occasionally yield to pragmatism.

The Business Support function enables every department to excel—from HR managing talent to Finance processing transactions and Marketing reaching customers. Your decisions affect how smoothly 2,900 colleagues can do their jobs. The setting?
