Drive purchasing excellence through innovative supply chain and procurement solutions

How do you make our customers happy?

By ensuring that every product we sell directly (our Retailer1 assortment) is available when customers want it. This has a huge impact on customer satisfaction, because few things are more frustrating than ‘out of stock’ notices. As the Product Manager Purchasing, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring our decisions are smart, timely, and cost-effective. By leveraging intelligent forecasting models, we can fine-tune purchasing volumes to optimize inventory levels at all times and get the most out of our warehouse capacity. Maintaining this seamless flow of goods and an accurate inbound administration requires finely honed strategic skills and precise coordination with suppliers and operational teams. Do you have what it takes?

The biggest challenge

Your team has to strike the right balance between availability, cost efficiency, and operational feasibility in a highly complex supply chain. With a diverse supplier base, ranging from large manufacturers to niche vendors, and several warehouse locations, aligning all moving parts is a multidimensional puzzle. You’ll need to translate commercial and logistical insights into actionable purchasing strategies while ensuring our systems reflect reality down to the last unit. The challenge lies in managing this complexity without compromising speed or reliability, and building strong relationships with stakeholders, from suppliers to logistics partners and internal teams that rely on your decisions to keep our platform running smoothly.

What you'll do as Product Manager Purchasing

As a key member of our product organization, you’ll lead the development of procurement technology that powers our retail operation. Collaborating closely with engineers and commercial stakeholders, you’ll build scalable solutions that ensure a flawless purchase order administration, seamless integration with suppliers, and the continuous improvement of supplier performance. You’ll also share learnings across teams to elevate our collective strength. Your work ensures Retailer 1 maintains a strong customer proposition through consistent product availability and efficient next-day delivery.

You’ll dive deep into data analysis, partnering with product analysts to extract meaningful insights that inform procurement strategies. Through continuous discovery and experimentation, you’ll identify opportunities to enhance our purchasing capabilities and translate them into tangible product improvements. Your influence will extend beyond your immediate team as you engage in deep collaboration with your business peers to ensure solutions deliver maximum value. A strong product vision, clear product strategies, and the ability to align a diverse roster of stakeholders are prerequisites for success.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive product vision and strategy
  • Lead discovery initiatives that combine analytical rigor with commercial awareness
  • Design and implement robust solutions that ensure a flawless purchase order administration and seamless supplier integration
  • Drive stakeholder alignment through compelling demonstrations of product value
  • Establish and monitor key metrics to track improvements in product availability, supplier delivery performance, and process efficiency
  • Promote a culture of experimentation and data-driven decision-making in close partnership with supply chain colleagues

Mentor stakeholders on data-driven decision-making and continuously inspire team growth

Why you can make a difference

You combine product management expertise with a strategic understanding of purchasing dynamics. With 3+ years of relevant experience, preferably in e-commerce, you’ve demonstrated success in building products that truly deliver. You can transform complex data into actionable insights and rally stakeholders around a shared vision. You fuse strategic thinking with execution excellence: knowing how to make tough decisions and take ownership of outcomes. Celebrating team wins and openly learning from setbacks are essential to boosting team development.

3 reasons why this is (not) for you

  • - Output enthusiast: You measure success by features shipped rather than problems solved or value created
  • - Implementation avoider: You're fascinated by theoretical models but lose interest when it's time to apply them
  • - Silo dweller: You rarely venture outside; real work is conducted in solitude
  • + Multi-timeframe master: You excel at developing product strategies that balance short-term wins with long-term value creation
  • + Data-powered decision maker: You navigate oceans of information with confidence, extracting the insights that truly matter
  • + Influential storyteller: You transform complex concepts into narratives that inspire action and drive adoption
