We’re looking for a freelance Art Director with deep expertise in Asian cuisine visual branding to lead the creation of AI-generated food imagery that is both photorealistic and culturally nuanced. You’ll act as the creative bridge between our clients and AI generative artists, crafting direction that is rooted in cultural understanding, brand context, and visual storytelling.

This role goes far beyond directing pixels; it’s about ensuring every dish, ingredient, and surface detail reflects the richness and diversity of Asian culinary cultures, while staying aligned with cutting-edge visual trends.

We are looking for a freelance specialist for a short term project initially but with a potential to extend long term.

What you’ll do

  • Translate client briefs into clear, inspiring art direction tailored for AI generative food imagery.
  • Guide and refine the creative process to ensure outputs are visually stunning and culturally authentic.
  • Direct and quality-check visual elements — from texture sharpness to plating and regional food styles.
  • Stay current with Asian culinary trends, styles, and regional distinctions, integrating them into concept development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (AI artists, producers, strategists) to elevate execution and consistency.
  • Push creative boundaries while maintaining respect and realism in representing diverse food cultures.

What you’ll bring

  • Proven experience as an Art Director in food photography, visual branding, or culinary campaigns.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing food-related creative direction, ideally with Asian cuisine or regional focus.
  • Deep understanding of Asian culinary aesthetics, cultural context, and food presentation styles.
  • Comfort working with or directing AI-generated imagery (experience with generative tools is a bonus).
  • Ability to express complex visual ideas clearly, creatively, and respectfully.
  • A collaborative, humble mindset and high standards for visual and cultural integrity.
