At the forefront of Europe’s photonics innovation, TNO is building a state-of-the-art pilot line for Indium Phosphide (InP) photonic chips at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven. As part of the EU-funded PIXEurope program, this pilot line will enable the transition from groundbreaking research to large-scale industrial manufacturing, making advanced photonic technologies faster, more reliable, and widely accessible. To help bring this ambitious step to life, we are looking for a Senior Equipment Engineer Plasma. In this role, you will work with advanced plasma deposition and etching equipment (PECVD/ICP/RIE) that forms a critical part of our pilot line. Your expertise will ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of tools from leading vendors such as SPTS, LAM, AMAT, and Oxford Instruments. By keeping these systems at peak performance, you directly contribute to Europe’s next-generation capability in integrated photonics.
As Senior Equipment Engineer Plasma, you are responsible for installing, maintaining, and optimizing advanced plasma production equipment within a cleanroom environment. You take ownership of preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot complex malfunctions, and lead equipment lifecycle management. Working closely with process engineers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, you ensure stable and efficient wafer-scale manufacturing.

You are an experienced engineer with deep expertise in plasma systems and a proven track record in semiconductor equipment engineering. You thrive in a cleanroom environment, enjoy working with high-tech tools, and are motivated by the opportunity to shape a pilot line at the forefront of integrated photonics.
