Are you experienced in psychological treatment research, research methods, and meta-analyses and are you motivated to work in an international team? Then we warmly invite you to apply.

Metapsy Project at VU Amsterdam

The Metapsy project consists of data extracted from publications of randomized controlled trials on psychological treatments for several different psychological disorders. These data are collected by members of the VU staff, visiting researchers, and a large number of international collaborators. We follow rigorous scientific standards, and all databases are updated regularly. Ultimately, the databases become publicly available for everyone. We are currently in the process of restructuring the whole workflow.

Your Function

As a member of the Metapsy project, you will play a key role in coordinating and developing our international research collaboration. You will:

  • Coordinate all the databases included in Metapsy and keep in close contact with (inter)national collaborators about (updates of) the database.
  • Provide training and guidance for collaborators, students, and team members working with Metapsy in data management, data extraction, and research synthesis methods.
  • Explore new ways to offer training and guidance to (new) collaborators.
  • Extract data from publications of randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
  • Support and lead scientific publications based on Metapsy data.
  • Work in close collaboration with the VU Metapsy core team, which consists of 5 (inter)national researchers.

Your Profile

  • This position is open to individuals with a M.Sc. or M.A. level degree, preferably in (clinical) psychology, although people in related fields (e.g. public health, data science) can also apply.
  • Experience with conducting meta-analyses (methodological and field-specific knowledge).
  • Experience managing large and complex meta-analytic datasets.
  • Ideally, knowledge of programming in R and version control.
  • Excellent social and communication skills; strong team player.
  • Fluent in English but preferably also Dutch speaking.

We welcome applications from all backgrounds and encourage candidates who recognize themselves in this profile to apply, even if not all requirements are met.

What We Offer

A challenging position at a socially engaged organization. At VU Amsterdam, you will contribute to education, research, and services for a better world. That is why we offer you:

  • Choice model for tax exchange of certain employment conditions.
  • The option to work partly from home.
  • Room for personal development.
