The production facilities in Boxmeer are part of our global animal health production network where we manufacture and package animal health products according to Good Manufacturing Practice standards. Animal Health is working according to the Animal Health Production System, which is based on Lean Six Sigma and inclusion principles. The production organization in Boxmeer is the largest animal vaccine manufacturing location in the world and consists of several Integrated Process Teams and Centers of Excellence. The activities of the department Antigen cover the large-scale manufacturing of bacterial and viral antigens and similar biotech products using cell culture, fermentation and purification techniques. Within the department, the Improvement Team (15 Improvement Engineers) is engaged in the transfer of new production processes, project management and proactive and reactive improvements of production and business processes.

Purpose of the role

Under the direction of the Improvement Lead of the department Antigen, the Improvement Engineer plays a key role in ensuring that new products are introduced successfully, supports product life cycle management where needed and gives general support to the department, ultimately optimizing output according to supply needs and GMP and safety guidelines.

Tasks and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Support investigations with both technical depth as well as Lean/Six Sigma mindset;
• Take the lead role in high-impact projects and investigations;
• Initiate and develop proposals/business cases for (Quality) improvement projects including deliverables and planning for the development and implementation of proposed improvements, in consultation with department staff, Quality and external parties;
• Evaluate consequences of external guidelines as well as initiate and develop policies and procedures;
• Assess (incidental) deviations from approved policies and procedures and approve GMP related documents;
• Monitor and analyze data (e.g. system and batch data, annual reviews, performance indicators), write or review data evaluation reports;

Your profile

• Preferably academic degree in life sciences (e.g. Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biomedical), a Bachelor degree may be suitable depending on your background and experience;
• Preferably 2-5 years of experience in (bio)pharma manufacturing; if you are a recent Academic graduate you are encouraged to apply as well;
• Experience in project management in a regulated environment;
• Experience in Lean/Six Sigma principles, or eagerness to learn;
• You bring structure in dynamic environments;
• Result oriented, convincing, initiative, team player;
• Excellent command of the English and Dutch language;
