Our current strategy focuses on direct operation footprint and as part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability, we are offering an internship opportunity for a dynamic and motivated individual to join our Sustainable Production team.

You will be part of a passionate team that plays a major role in driving HEINEKEN’s water and cost reduction targets, especially in water-stressed sites.

The internship

We are offering an internship opportunity for a proactive and detail-oriented individual to join our team and contribute to process improvement, contractual service level tracking and governance improvement initiatives.

The individual will work closely with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows, ensure compliance with policies and standards, and contribute to the overall efficiency of our Sustainable Production Department. This role directly supports HEINEKEN’s strategic sustainability agenda, with a strong focus on water stewardship and supplier engagement across our 180+ global production sites.

We prioritize efficiency, transparency, and adherence to best practices in our operations.

The project description can be summarized into the following categories:

  1. Process Improvement:
  • Collaborate with the area buyer to map existing processes, identify bottlenecks, and recommend improvements for increased supplier performance tracking.
  • Assist in the tracking of current projects to assist in monitoring and assist in the projects enhancements and monitor their progress and commercial impact.
  • Perform internal and external analysis and generate opportunity proposals.
  • This will help strengthen governance and control over supplier performance and sustainability compliance.
  1. Governance Support:
  • Support the development and maintenance of governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
  • Contribute to the implementation of compliance initiatives to ensure adherence to contracts.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of process documentation, guidelines, and manuals (Playbooks).
  • Prepare regular reports on process performance, governance compliance, and key metrics for each region.
  1. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work collaboratively with Sustainable Production Water department to understand their specific process needs and contribute to solutions that meet those requirements.
  • Participate in meetings and discussions with Operating Companies to contribute to solutions that meet their needs.
  • Assist in identifying initiatives and opportunities for efficiency improvements and process optimization.
  • Collaborate with the global Sustainable Production team on water reduction projects
  1. Sustainable Production Fundamentals:
  • Assist in organizing and understanding the category spend and cost.
  • Analyse market data to support strategic decision-making in procurement activities.
  • Assist in collecting and analysing procurement-related data to generate insights and reports.
  • Support the development of key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure supplier’s effectiveness.
  • Support in tracking category KPI (Total cost of ownership, category cost control including Water Acceleration Project).
  • Evaluate spend per supplier and per category and update Power BI.
  • Assist in rolling out to suppliers and Operating Companies a Category RACI.
  1. Contract Management:
  • Collaborate with contract managers and the Operating companies to update contract changes in the systems.
  • Prepare and track Actions arising from Quarterly Review Meetings.

The department

Sustainable Production team consists of 13 people, focusing on Net Zero and sustainable energy as well as Water Reduction supported by for Cleaning & Disinfection Category.

The terms of employment

  • Your starting date is 1 September 2025
  • The internship is fulltime
  • The duration of the internship is 6 months
  • It is a work internship
  • You will be based in The Base Office at Schiphol.
  • During your internship, you have the flexibility to work from home/in a hybrid setup (3 days a week at the office).
  • You will receive an internship fee of €650 gross pm based on 40 hours per week
  • You will enjoy 2 vacation days per month (based on fulltime)
  • If you do not have a student OV product, your commuting expenses will be fully reimbursed

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork abilities and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to engage and openness to learn from peers and coach / mentor and other team members
  • Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges in a dynamic global setting.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced and international business environment.
  • Strong interest in sustainable production and environmental conservation.

Conditions of HEINEKEN

  1. You are enrolled at an educational institution.
    1. In the case of non-EU nationality, you must be registered as an intern with a Dutch educational institution, from which we receive proof of enrollment for the current academic year from you.
    2. In case of EU nationality, you may also be registered as an intern at educational institutions outside the EU.
  2. Living in the Netherlands during internship (HEINEKEN does not facilitate housing).
