Introduction

The MX (Metrology and Machine Control) cluster provides control, modeling, and optimization for Twinscan platforms. Within MX, the leveling department handles vertical wafer surface measurements relative to system fiducials. Accurate wafer topography is essential for maintaining focus during imaging. A dedicated sensor measures the wafer height map with nanometer precision. This map guides wafer stage trajectories to keep the wafer in optimal focus. A verification test checks the reproducibility and accuracy of these measurements. It also helps troubleshoot potential issues with the wafer map.

Your assignment

We currently use a verification test built in Python with some C++ backend. However, improvements could make it more useful for design engineers. These enhancements would support experiments on prototypes and aid in debugging. The internship goal is to implement selected features. You’ll collaborate with domain experts to align design and testing. Final deliverables will be integrated into our software archive. This ensures availability across all Twinscan platforms.

Key deliverables include, but are not limited to:

  • Update of graphical user interface to include additional options, such as different wafer map routing
  • Validation of the options selected by the user, preventing inconsistent settings

This is a bachelor or master internship (not suited for a thesis project) for a 4 to 6 months, for 5 days per week (at least 3 days or more onsite). The start date of this internship is as soon as possible.

Your profile

To be a match for this internship, you:

  • Are a bachelor or master student in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field like Physics (but with software engineering skills built up) looking for an apprentice internship;
  • Have strong Python skills & experience (can also be through university work);
  • Having C++ skills & experience (can also be through university work) is preferred;
  • Have good communication and writing skills in English;
  • Have strong communication skills, as for this position you will need to liaise directly with domain experts.

Other requirements you need to meet

  • You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship;
  • You are located in the Netherlands to perform your internship. In case you are currently living/studying outside of the Netherlands, your CV/motivation letter includes the willingness to relocate;
  • If you are a non-EU citizen, studying in the Netherlands, your university is willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement).

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
