At Qlayers, we’re revolutionizing the way large-scale industrial assets such as ships and storage tanks are coated. Our patented robotic technology enhances coating quality, boosts efficiency, and significantly reduces environmental impact.
We’re currently developing a cutting-edge robotic actuation system designed for use in the maritime industry. This system combines an exceptionally large reach (>20m) with high-precision movement (<10 mm), and maintaining accuracy under dynamic conditions is critical to coating performance.
The Challenge
The surface of the objects that are to be coated can be covered with various appendices and holes. For the coating process to be autonomous it is vital to detect these anomalies. The setup is equipped with lidar sensors to scan the surface that is to be coated. The challenge is to create a system that can robustly identify the appendices in real-time.
As an Automation Engineering Intern, you’ll actively contribute to this mission-critical R&D project. Your work will involve both theoretical analysis and practical implementation.
