Join adidas as an Analytics Data Product Owner

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

As an Analytics Data Product Owner at adidas you are responsible for managing the EU eCom data assets present in our Databricks Lakehouse Platform, which are used by the EU eCom Analytics team to deliver cutting-edge analytics services to stakeholders, enabling them to make fact-based decisions.

You play a pivotal role in guiding the development and maintenance of data products for the EU eCom Analytics organization at adidas. Collaborating closely with a team of data engineers based out of India, your responsibilities include backlog management, product development, quality assurance, performance monitoring, and stakeholder engagement. By bridging the gap between business requirements and technical execution, you ensure the delivery of high-value, reliable data products that support the EU eCom organization’s analytical and decision-making capabilities.

While you are not expected to build data pipelines yourself, you need to have a good understanding of the workflow involved in this activity and be able to manage the team’s bandwidth on agreed & incoming priorities. You will work closely with the engineering lead on this. You speak the language of data engineers in your team and the language of analysts, data scientists and business stakeholders, steering towards clarification where needed and translating possible vague requirements into technical requirements or follow-ups for the team.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Product Management:

  • Overseeing the end-to-end lifecycle of data products, from concept through to implementation and iteration.
  • Ensure continuous improvement, helping shape the vision and strategy for data products in your scope, ensuring alignment with business goals and stakeholder needs.
  • Continuously monitoring product performance and user feedback to drive ongoing improvements and enhancements.
  • Stay at the forefront of innovation and research/test/leverage new technologies and processes, together with the Sr. Data Product Owner, for improved outcomes.

Product Owner (Agile):

  • Lead the sprint ritual meetings
  • Manage the sprint backlog
  • Refine ticket requirements
  • Prioritize tickets based on business value, technical feasibility, and resource availability

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Act as a liaison between stakeholders and the data engineering team
  • Gather requirements from stakeholders
  • Align and refine those requirements with stakeholders
  • Manage changes with your stakeholders
  • Provide updates to stakeholders along the way
  • Ensure the final product meets user needs

Data Quality Assurance:

  • Oversee the Incident Handling process (Data Operations)
  • Support the Sr. Product Owner with designing and improving the Data Quality Framework
  • Responsible for driving the implementation and maintenance of the Data Quality Framework for team owned data assets, working closely with analysts, engineers & the global data team
  • Ensure quality, reliability and performance through rigorous testing and validations processes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Hard-Skills:

  • Fluent in English both verbally and written
  • Expert in Agile ways of working & SCRUM set ups
  • Robust SQL & Excel knowledge
  • Experience with Data Management & Quality tools and frameworks such as Collibra & Great Expectations is a strong plus
  • Python knowledge is a plus
  • Experience with Atlassian Tools (JIRA, Confluence, BitBucket) is a plus
  • Experience with Databricks Lakehouse or similar big data platforms is a plus

Soft Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, strong hands-on mentality, and can-do attitude.
  • Ability to understand and translate complex business requirement into technical ones
  • Ability to summarize and explain complex technical topics to stakeholders with various degrees of technical knowledge and understanding and still get the point across
  • A keen eye for detail and love for exploring complex topics involving many stakeholders
  • Ability to manage stakeholder requests and own priorities in a professional manner
  • Comfortable with learning and applying new ways of working and data management technologies
  • Ability to motivate others & influence towards common outcomes

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree equivalent in Business Management, Business Intelligence, Computer Science, Information Technology or similar field of study, a Master degree is a plus.
  • At least 4 years’ experience in the data analytics field, with a focus on data product ownership/data governance/data quality considered desirable.
  • Experience in team leadership is a plus.
  • Passion for data, technology, eCommerce, digital and sports is a plus.
