Are you excited to be part of our dynamic team where business meets technology? Driving Rituals' growth through innovative tools within our Business Technology department.

Staff Engineer – Data Platform

As a Staff Engineer within our Technology Platforms team, you will play a key role in shaping, standardizing and scaling the foundational platforms and capabilities that power our enterprise. This includes our data platform, integrations, API platform, and other tech that enables engineering teams across the organization to deliver with ease, speed, security, and confidence.

You will act as a technical leader and strategic partner, driving the design and evolution of platform capabilities that are robust, scalable and reusable. With a strong product mindset, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to define self-service blueprints, frameworks, and accelerators, and ensure our platforms are intuitive and cost-effective to use. Your work will directly impact the productivity of our engineers and the success of our strategic programs that fuel our ambitious growth goals.

This role is at the heart of Rituals’ evolution toward a modular, platform-oriented data ecosystem — ensuring that every data product is built with clarity, reuse, scalability, consistency, and long-term value in mind.

You will work closely with peers in Data products and Analytics Engineering, to align standards, promote reuse, and accelerate delivery at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of scalable, secure, and reusable platform components across data, integrations, infrastructure, and DevEx domains.
  • Develop accelerators and frameworks (e.g. terraform modules, end-to-end templates, code scaffolds, testing templates, CI/CD components) that abstract complexity and drive consistency across product teams.
  • Define and evolve technical standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across engineering teams.
  • Drive platform adoption by building intuitive self-service experiences, developer documentation, and onboarding materials.
  • Drive the platform roadmap, identifying opportunities to improve developer experience & efficiency, reduce operational overhead, and optimize cloud costs.
  • Work closely with other Staff Engineers in Data Products and Analytics & AI teams to ensure end-to-end cohesion of the data ecosystem.

Key Stakeholders

  • Fellow Technology Platforms Team members
  • Data Engineers & Solution Architects within domain teams
  • Data Architect, Digital Architects and Principal Architect
  • Staff Engineers in Data Products, Data Analytics and AI teams

Strategic Value

As a Staff Engineer for Technology Platforms, you drive standardization and scalable platform solutions that enable engineering teams to deliver data products efficiently and consistently at scale. By enabling future innovations, operational excellence, and the continued expansion of our digital and data capabilities, you contribute directly to our ambitious growth goals.

Bring all of you

  • 6-8+ years of experience in data platform engineering roles, with at least 2–3 years in a senior technical or architectural capacity.
  • Deep expertise in building data platforms, and cloud-native technologies (e.g. GCP, AWS, Azure), preferably also experience with event-driven and microservices architectures.
  • Deep knowledge of modern data stacks (e.g. dbt, Airflow, BigQuery) and familiarity with APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code.
  • A product mindset with a focus on user experience, scalability, and long-term maintainability.
  • Experience creating developer enablement tooling, frameworks, or reusable libraries in production environments.
  • Proven ability to define and implement engineering standards, governance models, and reusable frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to explain complex technical concepts to business and leadership audiences.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
