As an Analytics Engineer, you play a critical role in transforming raw data into clean, reliable, and business-ready insights. You serve as the essential link between data engineers and business analysts - combining deep technical expertise with strong business acumen. Your work ensures that our data warehouse is not only technically sound but also accessible, well-modeled, and aligned with business needs. You will design scalable data models, implement software engineering best practices (including version control, CI/CD, and testing), and contribute to data governance efforts. You will help manage structured and unstructured data, enabling consistent, accurate, and timely reporting and analytics across the organization.

Tech Stack: dbt | Google BigQuery / SQL | Tableau (occasionally) | Python (occasionally)

Your team. You’ll join a dynamic department (AI&T) of ~30 professionals, including project managers, solution builders, and business experts - all working together to accelerate growth across Commerce and Operations.

Within the Analytics & BI (ABI) team (9 professionals), we support:

  • 📊 600+ business users with interactive dashboards and self-service tools
  • 🔎 30 analysts with curated, well-modeled datasets
  • 🤖 A data science team leveraging data for advanced modeling and prediction

This position is based in Varsseveld & Utrecht and is focused on serving our Operations stakeholders, working with systems such as TMS, WMS, and ERP. With a major ERP migration on the horizon, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our data landscape.

Your mission:

  • 🤝 Partner closely with both business and IT stakeholders - understand underlying needs and translate them into scalable data solutions
  • 🔍 Navigate and integrate complex source systems across multiple countries and domains
  • 🚀 Design, build, and maintain high-quality, reliable data pipelines to support analytics and decision-making at scale
  • 🛠️ Lead the preparation and execution of our transition to a modern, future-proof data warehouse

Who are you? What will help you be successful in this role?

Core competences:

  • Team-Oriented & Collaborative. You work well in a multidisciplinary team (our ABI team has 7–10 specialists across domains) and contribute to shared goals while supporting others.
  • Ownership & Independence. You take initiative, own your work end-to-end, and proactively address challenges - especially when it comes to monitoring and maintaining critical pipelines.
  • Business-Driven Mindset. You understand the “why” behind the data and design solutions that drive business impact and long-term value.
  • Clear Communication. You're able to communicate effectively with both technical and business audiences in English, adapting your language to your audience.

Key technical skills:

  • SQL Mastery & Data Modeling Expertise. Deep experience in SQL and modeling principles (Kimball, DataVault), and ability to select the best approach based on business needs.
  • Data Pipeline Development in dbt. Proven experience building and maintaining data pipelines using dbt on Google BigQuery or equivalent platforms.
  • Cloud Environment Experience. Hands-on experience in cloud-based data stacks—ideally Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or AWS.
  • CI/CD & Version Control. Comfortable working with git, and experienced in using CI/CD workflows for deploying analytics solutions.

Bonus:

  • Visualization & Self-Service Enablement. Proficient in Tableau or similar tools (PowerBI, Looker), with experience enabling self-service analytics and delivering compelling dashboards.
  • Bonus: Python Knowledge. Ability to write basic data transformation scripts in Python is a plus.
