Join HiiL’s Mission to Enhance Access to Justice

By 2030, 150 million people are able to prevent or resolve their most pressing justice problems. Do you want to join us on our mission?

HiiL, a social enterprise that works to enhance access to justice through innovation, is looking for a talented and driven Fundraiser and Partnership Developer to develop and manage some of HiiL’s key donor accounts.

Are you a natural dealmaker? Do you excel at turning opportunities into reality? Can you unite diverse groups of changemakers and funders around a great justice idea? Are your writing and proposal management skills top-notch, producing compelling proposals that inspire action? If your answer is “yes,” then HiiL might be exactly where you belong!

You will join our Partnership Development (PD) department and play a vital role in expanding and diversifying our funding sources. In particular, you will help to create new funding partnerships with the European Union and relevant units of the German Government to make sure our work can sustainably grow. You will contribute to the design and implementation of the PD team’s workplan and strategy.

How will you contribute to HiiL’s mission:

  • You utilise your expertise to write compelling proposals tailor made to the European Union, Government of Germany, or others as needed, leveraging both your personal connection and our organisational network;
  • You collaborate with Programme Directors who oversee country programmes and provide proactive support for their teams to write winning proposals and spot and pursue funding opportunities;
  • You employ your creativity and communication, providing clear directives to our communications teams to effectively articulate how our work addresses the challenges identified by funders, ultimately securing partnerships and funding for HiiL;
  • You contribute to HiiL’s overall strategy, its Programme strategy, the annual workplan and quarterly implementation plans.

What we look for in our new colleague:

  • Has a Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. law, politics, international relations, international development studies, conflict studies);
  • Has at least ten (10+) years of relevant work experience, including at least five (5) of which are focused on raising funds and deal making with the European Union and/or German Government, other relevant institutional donors, and managing those relationships;
  • Has solid project design skills and strong writing skills, namely proposal writing;
  • Has a track-record in deal-making, translating funding conversations into concrete deals and writing those up effectively;
  • Has excellent analytical and assessment skills, can handle a high level of complexity;
  • Is strong in coordinating processes and holds an ability to manage a variety of tasks;
  • Has excellent interpersonal skills, has political awareness, sensitivity, astuteness, and discretion where needed;
  • Is results-oriented, a team player, independent, hands-on and holds a strong sense of responsibility;
  • Is IT-tech savvy;
  • Has full professional proficiency in English and has excellent verbal and writing skills. Knowledge of French/Dutch/German and/or Arabic are considered an extra asset;
  • Holds a valid EU-citizenship or NL working permit.

Do you value …

  • An organisation with a culture in which motivation prevails; the work that we do is meaningful and contributes to changing people’s lives;
  • An environment that will strengthen and widen your professional skills;
  • You will become part of a dynamic and international team of 70+ professionals.
