Project Manager Farm Sustainability at FrieslandCampina

Are you ready to help build the most sustainable dairy cooperative in the world?

Are you passionate about sustainability and eager to drive real-world change on dairy farms? FrieslandCampina is looking for a Project Manager to deliver impactful sustainability initiatives at farm level. Together with a committed and experienced team, you will turn strategy into practical improvements on climate, biodiversity, and animal welfare – directly with and for our member farmers. Become part of a dedicated team that turns sustainability ambition into tangible farm-level action.

What we ask

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in Agriculture, Food Technology, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in project management within sustainability, agriculture or a closely related domain, with a demonstrable affinity for the agricultural sector and sustainable development.
  • Fluency in Dutch is essential due to frequent interaction with Dutch-speaking farmers and stakeholders. You also reside in the Netherlands.
  • Strong project and stakeholder management skills: structured, hands-on, and proactive communicator.
  • Able to translate strategy and research into actionable, on-farm measures that deliver tangible impact and business value.
  • Comfortable in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment, with a sharp eye for opportunities and a drive to create commercial impact.

What we offer

FrieslandCampina has a unique company culture of Dutch heritage and international presence. The work environment is informal and friendly, where you collaborate with passionate professionals. You will have access to training and coaching to support your professional growth, and internal career development opportunities are actively encouraged. With trust and autonomy, you will have the chance to create lasting impact, contributing to better nutrition for the world. As for the employment benefits:

  • Salary between €5,250 and €7,100 per month, depending on knowledge and experience (full-time);
  • Full-time workweek of 38 hours, 5% year-end bonus, 12.5% bonus, and a pension;
  • Flexible working hours and ample opportunities to work from home;
  • 200 hours of annual leave, the option to buy or sell 40 extra hours, and 8% holiday allowance;
  • Free milk & cheese during lunch and delicious barista coffee at our headquarters.

Vacancy description

As Project Manager – Farm Sustainability, you will be responsible for designing, managing, and implementing sustainability projects that contribute to FrieslandCampina’s farm-level sustainability goals. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external partners – such as feed suppliers and advisors – to support dairy farmers in adopting sustainable practices.

Your tasks include:

  • Managing end-to-end project delivery: planning, execution, stakeholder alignment, budget, and reporting.
  • Upscaling of proven sustainability measures across the cooperative.
  • Translating data insights and pilot results into practical interventions for farm-level improvement.
  • Developing and executing targeted engagement strategies to activate and motivate farmers in adopting sustainable practices — using the right mix of tools such as workshops, campaigns, events, and digital channels.
  • Working in multidisciplinary teams with experts in animal welfare, climate, and biodiversity.
  • Coordinating with other departments such as Digital, Data & Analytics, Farmer Engagement, Corporate Sustainability and Communications to ensure alignment and synergy.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of activation approaches and adapting them based on feedback and results.

Staying true to who you really are, that is your starting point at FrieslandCampina. Because it is precisely by embracing our differences that we can grow together. We want to create a working environment that allows all employees to bring their best and authentic selves. If who we are suits you, but you're not sure if you're the best fit for the role, we still encourage you to apply so we can help you find the role that fits you best.
