Director Talent & Learning

As Director Talent & Learning, you play a key role in shaping the future of our people and organization. You lead strategic, culture-first initiatives that fuel individual and collective growth, ensuring our employees and leaders are empowered to perform, grow, and thrive, especially as we scale rapidly in a dynamic matrix organisation.

Working within our Talent and Learning team and heading a team of 14 talented professionals, you report into the CHRO and be part of the Global HRMT. This role encompasses responsibilities on a global scale, as well as within our office and retail environments.

Part of your role will be to build strong partnerships to ensure that all development programs are seamlessly integrated and impactful. Additionally, you will be responsible for translating both business and people strategies into practical, high-impact programs, policies, and tools across various areas. These areas include Talent Development, Learning & Leadership, Performance Management, Career & Succession Planning, Employee Lifecycle, and Culture. You are passionate about AI technology and its role in transforming learning and performance.

With a sense for action and a mindset of continuous improvement, you’re a strategic thinker who leads with clarity, energy, and a touch of humor.

Your accountabilities:

Strategic Leadership & Design

  • Translate the company's growth ambitions and talent needs into a future proof Talent & Learning strategy, integrating culture, leadership and AI innovation.
  • Design and implement global, scalable programs in leadership development, career progression, succession planning, and retention of key talent for retail and office.
  • Act as a strategic thought partner to senior leadership, aligning learning and development with business objectives.

Program Development & Delivery

  • Lead the design, execution, and refinement of high-impact learning and development programs, ensuring they meet evolving employee and organizational needs such as engagement and inclusivity.
  • Partner with Retail Operations to align L&D strategy with frontline realities, while maintaining ownership of overarching talent development.
  • Use technology, including AI, to create personalized, data-driven learning journeys.

Performance & Culture Enablement

  • Lead the continuous re-design of the employee performance & growth cycles, that drive a feedback-driven, growth mindset culture.
  • Partner with HRBPs and leaders to shape a culture of learning, continuous feedback, and meaningful career conversations.

Team & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Guide and coach a high-performing team of 14 HR professionals who are energized, curious, and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Build strong cross-functional partnerships across HR, business leaders, and external partners.
  • Promote knowledge-sharing and collaboration within the broader HR Center of Expertise (CoE).

Measurement & Continuous Improvement

  • Define and track success metrics for all programs to ensure ongoing impact, relevance, and ROI and use the data to improve/elevate the impact of the tools and solutions.
  • Stay ahead of trends, tools, and research in learning, talent, leadership, and AI to continuously evolve our approach.

Bring all of you

  • 10+ years of experience in Talent Development and Learning with at least 5+ years in a HR/people leadership role, preferably in a similar Retail/ FMCG environment.
  • Strong track record in designing and scaling learning programs in a fast-paced matrix organisation.
  • Proven success in performance management design, succession planning, and leadership development.
  • Deep understanding of how culture, AI, and leadership intersect to create high-performing environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation, and communication skills.
  • Global mindset and experience in a global role, partnering with local stakeholders and understanding the dynamics between global and local organisations.
  • High energy, collaborative spirit, and a sense of humor. You bring clarity in complexity, curiosity in growth, and courage in innovation.
  • Fluency in Dutch & English, and based in the Netherlands.
