Job Purpose

The main focus of this role is to create mechanical strength assessments using mechanical calculations both analytically and through Finite Element Analysis (FEA). This includes developing procedures and reports, primarily for pressure vessel separation internals in the oil and gas industry. Additionally, the role involves providing expert advice and support on mechanical strength issues to the mechanical team, research & development (R&D), tendering, sales, and others, including vendors and clients.

Job Description

  • Understand and comply with TechnipFMC's foundational beliefs: Safety, Integrity, Quality, Respect, and Sustainability.
  • Apply and adhere to TechnipFMC standards, such as engineering rules (ER) and local work instructions (LWI).
  • Follow client and industry standards, specifications, and codes.
  • Attend project kick-offs for projects requiring FEA analyses. Evaluate the completeness of FEA scope descriptions and communicate any additional required information to the project team.
  • Review and analyze project input (such as specifications, codes, drawings, and documents) and take the necessary actions.
  • Transfer contractual FEA scope requirements to SMART work instructions, including any hold points, where applicable (internal or external).
  • Perform mechanical strength assessments through mechanical calculations and FEA, including the creation of procedures and reports.
  • Stay updated with current technological advances in strength calculation techniques and state-of-the-art equipment.
  • Provide technical support to R&D, sales, manufacturing, quality control (QC), field installation, etc.
  • Mentor and train other team members and co-workers.
  • Advise and support on strength-related questions within the mechanical engineering team, the Production Solutions business unit, and towards clients.

You are meant for this job if:

  • You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering.
  • You have proven experience in Mechanical Calculation, both analytically and through FEA, including static, fatigue (cyclic and random vibrations), and fluid induced vibration (FIV) assessments.
  • You are a self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills.
  • You are a good team player who can work with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • You are proactive and creative in solving complex problems.
  • You can maintain a good overview while paying attention to detail.
  • You are proficient in written and spoken English.
  • You are experienced in using Ansys Workbench and Python.
