Job Description:

70% of future growth in Europe will derive from Digital and Specialist Pet Trade channels over the next 5 years. As a result, as part of our Mars PNE strategy we will intentionally invest in building capability into these channels to access this growth.

The Platforms Team is a team responsible for defining the platform strategy, building the capability, and running the platform operations for Mars PNE. This includes but is not limited to: Marketplace, Social Commerce, Quick Commerce, D2C (Direct-To- Consumer) and eB2B (E-Business-To-Business). If you join this team, you'll be right in the midst of the action working with people across the company to create product experiences that delight our pet parents. THE JOB

The Platforms Flagship Store eCommerce Manager role is responsible for delivering super premium solutions to new and existing pet parents across Europe. The eCommerce Manager is tasked with developing a successful strategy and delivering this with excellence through close collaboration with cross functional teams and external agencies. The eCommerce Manager will have a comprehensive understanding of Direct To Consumer (D2C) business models and drivers of D2C performance.

We are looking for an entrepreneurial spirited, high-energy individual, with a love of getting stuck in and taking initiative to make things happen. You’ll be hungry to succeed and have a passion for the digital channel, alongside proven D2C experience. You’ll be a natural communicator and exceptional at building networks both internally and externally. The successful candidate will have the drive and determination to work in a rapidly changing environment and have a track record of delivering results within the digital arena.

What are the Key Responsibilities?

  • Strategy: works with the Platforms Director to create the vision and strategy for the Flagship stores
  • Financial: supports delivery of in-year Platforms operating plan (AEP)
  • Financial: supports the Platforms Director in the S&OP+ cycle, including forecasting, investment management / accruals and risk and opportunities assessment
  • Physical Product: executes the portfolio strategy across the Flagship stores (including the listing of new items and the on-going management of the portfolio), ensuring the portfolio offered is tailored to the individual markets
  • Digital Product: has a deep understanding of pet parent needs and uses this to develop the right digital product roadmap (e.g., subscriptions programmes, loyalty programmes etc). Once created, executes this with excellence in partnership with external agencies and internal cross functional teams, ensuring the right digital experiences, focusing on the right Pet Parents needs are delivered.
  • Pricing & Promotion: works with the Market Strategy and Deployment (MS&D) and Finance teams to create the right price and promotional strategy for each Flagship store, maximising sales and increasing promotional ROI
  • Merchandising: works with the MS&D and Marketing Centre of Excellence (CoE) teams­ to ensure best in class execution on site, with a particular focus on Content, Availability and Ratings & Reviews
  • Acquisition: works with the Marketing Centre of Excellence (CoE) to deliver best-in-class campaigns to acquire new customers in line with Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC) targets
  • Retention: works with the external agencies and Marketing CoE to develop and deploy a best-in-class retention campaigns (e.g., CRM programmes) to increase the lifetime value of our pet parents
  • Knowledge management: capture learnings and share best practice across both the Platforms team and wider Mars digital community

What are we looking for?

  • Relevant degree and/or work experience
  • Fluent in verbal and written English, additional languages are a benefit
  • Strong understanding and demonstrable experience of applying best practice eCommerce D2C trends and winning strategies, ideally with a subscription-based product offering within an international setting
  • Digital product management experience, working hands on with internal cross-functional teams and external agencies to deliver a D2C vision and strategy
  • A track record of delivering results with both a Commercial and pet parent focused mindset (KPIs, qualitative and quantitative insights), capable of balancing quick wins and bigger, more impactful pieces of work
  • Highly driven and motivated
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and “test and learn” approach to product management, with a bias for action – delivering what matters iteratively and not waiting for ‘perfect’
  • A real team player and natural communicator - you enjoy working collaboratively with internal cross functional teams and external agencies and are able to unite a diverse group of people around a shared goal
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook).
