Ready to launch your technical expertise into a critical Integrated Project Planner role?

Do you have a Bachelor's degree in a technical field – ideally Maritime Technology or Naval Architecture or Industrial Engineering Management – and a drive to master the intricacies of Project Planning and Logistics? This is your chance to apply your technical foundation to a role with tangible impact, working on cutting-edge projects within a leading maritime organization. Fluency in both Dutch and English is essential as you'll be collaborating with a diverse and international team.

What can you expect as a Traineeship Planning & Logistics:

As an Integrated Project Planner Trainee at Damen Naval, you are offered a unique opportunity to delve into the world of Project Planning and Logistics for the construction of complex and state-of-the-art naval vessels. You will gain hands-on experience in creating accurate and comprehensive overviews of project status, providing vital information to Project Directors and Project Managers. Furthermore, you will develop the skills to generate insightful forecasts into the future trajectory of these significant naval shipbuilding projects, all while becoming proficient in Damen Naval's integrated planning methodology.

Since planning activities vary significantly across different disciplines and project phases, your traineeship will provide a well-rounded experience through involvement in various stages of the ASWF naval shipbuilding project:

  • Engineering and construction (4 months):
Immerse yourself in the initial phases of the project, learning how to plan and track the intricate engineering designs and the subsequent construction processes of the naval vessels. You'll gain insight into scheduling technical deliverables, managing dependencies between engineering disciplines, and monitoring the progress of physical construction activities on the shipyard floor.
  • Logistics (4 months):
Explore the crucial logistical backbone of naval shipbuilding. You will learn how to plan and coordinate the complex flow of materials, components, and equipment required for the project. This includes understanding procurement timelines, managing supplier deliveries, and ensuring the right resources are available at the right place and time to support the construction schedule.
  • Yard and transportation (4 months):
Take a sidestep and get real life experience with the shipbuilding process, focusing on the planning and coordination within the shipyard itself as well as the building strategy. You will learn about the scheduling of yard load and its equipment and the eventual transportation of the completed naval vessels. This phase will provide insights into the logistical challenges of moving, berthing and launching large structures.

What do we offer you?

  • Comprehensive Project Planning and Logistics Experience: Immerse yourself in the complete lifecycle of project planning while contributing to the realization of large-scale and incredibly complex naval manufacturing projects.
  • Master Industry-Leading Planning Tools: Learn how to effectively leverage cutting-edge planning software and established methodologies to gain a strong command of project scheduling and forecasting.
  • Dedicated Mentorship from Experts: Receive intensive and personalized guidance from seasoned professionals who will support your growth and development throughout the traineeship.
  • Exceptional Career Trajectory: Unlock excellent long-term career opportunities within Damen Naval, a leader in the maritime industry.
  • Inspiring Work Environment: Become part of a stimulating workplace centered around the design and construction of state-of-the-art naval vessels, contributing to impactful and innovative projects.

Why this traineeship?

  • Broaden Your Technical Horizon: Gain in-depth understanding of diverse manufacturing processes and the unique planning challenges and opportunities associated with each stage.
  • Accelerate Personal Growth: Develop crucial communication and collaboration skills through active engagement with multidisciplinary and international project teams.
  • Hands-on Learning and Development: Cultivate your expertise through practical, real-world assignments and targeted training initiatives.
  • Direct Career Pathway: Upon successful completion of the traineeship, you will be well-prepared for immediate employment in specialist Integrated Project Planner roles within Damen Naval or the wider Damen Group.
