The growing market of plant-based foods provides an excellent growth opportunity for our business unit Taste Texture & Health (TTH). Market growth is driven by increased global consumer demand for sustainable and healthy products, global population growth and enabled by continued innovation and development of plant-based food concepts (such as plant-based drinks and snacks, healthy sweet goods) and formulations. In the categories of plant-based foods, TTH has already an unmatched portfolio of ingredients with strong market positions addressing needs across the plant-based foods value chain.

Our ambition is to be a global leader in plant-based solutions supporting the global food system transformation. To turn this into reality, we are launching our plant-based platform – combining the best expertise and capabilities from across TTH to be able to respond to customer requests in a fast and agile manner.

We are looking for our New Business Development (NBD) Manager for Europe. This position will be key in driving the business development of Plant-based offering in plant-based drinks & snacks, Sports Nutrition, Baking, Confectionary, Healthy sweet goods.

You will achieve this through close interaction with dsm-firmenich sales teams – as well as with Application team and Proteins house. Come join our new plant-based platform Group, in the Taste, Texture, & Health Division, for a great opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop & implement sales plan and ‘go to market’ strategy for your region;
  • Identify market opportunities, evaluate their potential and translate into sales plan, both strategically and tactically;
  • Evaluate competitors’ products in all aspects of technical and commercial position and develop commercial differentiation strategy;
  • Develop commercial contacts and build relationships with targeted customers jointly with dsm-firmenich sales teams;
  • Implement development plans with key customers in close alignment with dsm-firmenich sales teams;
  • Establish and execute regional commercial plans, including forecast;
  • Be responsible for regional market intelligence and incorporate benchmarking and competitive profiling in business development plans.

The plant-based market itself is in development with high-speed changes: we need your learning agility to keep up-to-date on these changes and make sure that these are also used in our commercial approach.

As plant protein is a new business area for dsm-firmenich, we need you to assume responsibility for the customer pipeline for Plant-Based platform through the route-to-market defined, identify commercial opportunities and be actively involved in the development and execution of a business plan.

Because it is an entrepreneurial position, we need you to be self-starting, have an own network, while aligning with colleagues cross-functionally.

  • Reward: Based on your experience we will offer you a base salary of €110,000 to €125,000 per year (including holiday allowance and 13th month) and extra benefits, such as 25 holiday days, a bonus, the option to buy more holiday days with a 6% my choice budget and much more.

You Bring 

  • Bachelor / Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant discipline (sales, business);
  • Minimum of 10 years of commercial experience in nutrition or food ingredients, good understanding of consumer market for food ingredients;
  • New business development experience is required, proven track record in achieving ambitious business development targets;
  • Proven track record in working in an innovative highly dynamic field and bringing in commercial results in the VUCA world;
  • Strong self-insight and insight in others, inclusive mindset;
  • Exceptional customer management, negotiation, and strategic selling skills - strong aptitude for proactively identifying needs and defining solutions;
  • Strong planning, collaboration and influencing skills as well as communication skills;
  • Able to perform in a fast-paced work environment where constant re-prioritization is required.
