Internship Opportunity: Mechanical Engineering – Serviceable Printing Surface of a Large Printer

Company: Canon Production Printing

Date: 8 May 2025

Are you a mechanical engineering student looking for a challenging graduation project? Do you have a knack for technical creativity and enjoy developing new concepts? We are looking for you!

Your Assignment

For some printers, the print surface (or the vacuum manifolds underneath) are not accessible for service. Either because they cannot be reached, or because the flatness requirements are so high that re-adjusting them at the customer is too difficult. Therefore, a lot of effort is done to make these parts very robust. However, in case such a part still fails, the entire machine needs to be replaced.

The challenge for this student is to come up with a concept for either of the parts to be serviceable, while remaining within the currently available space of the existing printer. In other words, we want to be able to fix these parts at the customer by using a different construction.

Your Profile

  • You are currently studying Mechanical Engineering at Bsc level.
  • You have a strong interest in technical creativity and developing new concepts.
  • You have experience with design, prototyping, and problem-solving.
  • You are available for a period of 5 or 6 months, for a minimum of 4 days per week.

What’s in it for you?

  • A challenging assignment with skilled coaching.
  • Internship/Graduation compensation of €500,- per month.
  • Travel cost compensation if you don’t have an ‘OV-weekcard’.
  • The possibility to network with professionals inside and outside your field of expertise, thanks to our diversity of disciplines which you will work with.
  • With our company values collaboration, innovation, and ownership, we strive to bring out the best in each other, expand boundaries, and feel empowered to take ownership of our work.
