The team manager mechanical engineering Sustainment is responsible for the mechanical engineering activities during the product lifecycle from “Free for Sales” to “End of life” for the entire poultry value chain, thereby safeguarding the technical integrity of the solutions.

What you will be doing:

  • You will be leading a mechanical team of (10-15) mechanical engineers.
  • Accountable for delivering mechanical functionality into Sustainment projects and activities.
  • Accountable for the technical integrity of the output from your team members.
  • Coach, motivate and challenge individual team members.
  • Setting goals for team members, performing year-end reviews
  • Responsible for the planning and prioritization of the workload of your team in Sustainment projects and activities
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and subsequently start and follow-up initiatives.
  • Shaping your team, including performing screening and hiring of engineers, and developing the hard and soft skills of your team.
  • Develop and execute strategic workforce planning.
  • Managing the relationship with a multitude of internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop and safeguard one way-of-working to secure consistent and qualitative output of the team.
  • Working closely together with PO lead, Project Managers, and other discipline Engineering Managers.
  • Staying up to date with the most recent technical developments and identifying opportunities for Marel.
  • Support the Engineering Manager in creating a long-term technical road map.
  • In the current execution and delivery of a new PDM system within Marel, play a pivotal role in obtaining and transferring Sustainment requirements into the final architecture.

Skills & Abilities:

The position demands technical leadership and good analytical skills to oversee complex problems. Needs to be able to lead a team towards technically robust solutions, and possess the following skills:

  • Excellent English skills, both written and verbal.
  • Having strong technical knowledge in mechanical engineering & CAD.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Capability of managing high degrees of complexity.
  • Pro-active with a mindset to get things done.
  • Results oriented with ability to plan and deliver against deadlines.
  • Able to coach and challenge others.
  • Demonstrate clear and effective communication at multiple levels and with a multitude of disciplines.
  • Building and maintaining a network in the internal organization as well as outside.
  • A real team player.
  • Experience with agile/scrum project execution and associated tools (Jira, Confluence, or similar) is a plus.

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor, Master, or PhD degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics engineering or related field.
  • Working experience within the food-domain, preferably within the poultry industry, is a plus.
  • Working with Model-Based CAD design is a plus.
  • +3 years of experience as team manager/lead/coordinator or related job profile, preferably within an engineering (Sustainment) environment.
