What you do as a Project Excellence Manager

As Project Excellence Manager, you are responsible for improving project management by successfully implementing the Royal HaskoningDHV Risk Management Process and Project Management processes and procedures. You will work closely with other experts and business stakeholders to deliver consistency across the whole organization. In this role, you will:

  • Support, coach, and mentor project managers (in collaboration with their respective line managers).
  • Proactively steer PM knowledge-sharing activities and share PM lessons learned within and across our business.
  • Assist and provide input into the corporate training programme for project management aimed at developing project managers systematically to meet the current and future needs of the company.
  • Manage internal improvement projects that support Royal HaskoningDHV’s strategic project and risk management processes.
  • Implement and manage the Project Excellence Programme in the Business Line Industry & Buildings, aligned with the Royal HaskoningDHV corporate programme.
  • Stimulate appropriate project start-up, periodic project health checks, and close-out reviews.
  • Carry out periodic in-depth reviews of projects and champion the sharing and formulation of best practices within the business line and companywide, also sharing observations with other Project Excellence Managers.
  • Monitor and review project progress and results, and (assist line managers to) steer on adjustment where needed.

As Project Excellence Manager, you become part of the global Operational Excellence & Risk Management team. Our team plays a leading role in helping our organization achieve its operational and strategic goals through process enhancements, directing key improvement initiatives, and ensuring regulatory compliance. You will collaborate closely with 15 professionals in QHSE, project management, and risk management roles. We are mainly based in the Netherlands and the UK, but we also have colleagues in Southeast Asia. You will report directly to the Corporate Director of Operational Excellence and Risk Management. In your role, your work will be primarily focused on our Business Line Industry & Buildings.

In the Business Line Industry & Buildings, we work with 2,100 enthusiastic and energetic colleagues in a broad and challenging international market. Within the Business Line, there are projects in areas such as government and education, FMCG, healthcare, environment & energy, safety, and data centers.

What you bring

At least 5 years’ experience in a senior project management or line management position with specific experience in major international projects. You also recognize yourself in the following:

  • Senior project manager trusted and respected by line management as well as by project managers.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and influencing skills.
  • Well-organized, with demonstrable project management competencies.
  • Organization-sensitive, with the ability to challenge senior management when necessary.
  • Supportive leader with coaching skills.
  • Good understanding of RHDHV’s business, including a thorough knowledge of RHDHV’s business processes.
  • Basic understanding of financial accounting and revenue recognition principles.
  • Relevant project management qualification.
  • Willingness to travel to suit the requirements of the role.
  • Fluent in English, in speaking and writing. Dutch is an advantage.
