Computer Science Internship: Data Handling Efficiency

Introduction

This internship is positioned within the Integral Field Product Planning (IFPP) department of ASML, which is responsible for meeting service level agreements (SLAs) with customers. The team you are in, contributes to a global network, managing thousands of unique spare parts and ensuring customer satisfaction through efficient logistics services.

Your assignment

Join ASML as a key contributor to enhancing the data handling processes for NORA. NORA is a custom-made tool that plays a crucial role in our service network by ordering materials and balancing the stock between our warehouses. It operates on an hourly basis, ensuring timely and efficient management of our total service network. Smart data handling is key to optimizing these processes, and you will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to improving efficiency and reducing operational costs through innovative automation solutions.

During this internship, you will:

  • Develop software applications, preferably in JAVA, to automate operational activities related to data handling.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure data is downloaded, stored, and loaded in a smart, robust, and efficient manner to optimize performance and accessibility.

Your profile

To be a perfect match for this internship, you:

  • Are a HBO/bachelor or master student with an educational background related to Computer Science or Information Technology;
  • Are looking for a bachelor apprentice internship or graduation project, or a master apprentice internship (no thesis);
  • Have a solid understanding of object-oriented programming, particularly in JAVA (other programming languages are welcome);
  • Require basic knowledge of SQL for data handling tasks and are familiar with data analysis techniques;
  • Are process-oriented, with a drive for continuous improvement and a "can do" mentality;
  • Have good communication skills and are fluent in English both verbally and in writing.

This internship has a minimum duration of 5 months for 4-5 days per week (50% on-site). The start date of this internship is September 2025.

Other requirements you need to meet:

  • You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship;
  • Attach your cover letter with a clear motivation why you are interested in this internship assignment in particular;
  • You need to be located in the Netherlands to perform your internship. In case you’re currently living/studying outside of the Netherlands, your CV/motivation letter includes the willingness to relocate.
  • If you are a non-EU citizen, studying in the Netherlands, your university is willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement).
