About the role

  • Lead product development as the focal point for significant new-to-Dyson product offerings.
  • Own the user specification, key claims and technical requirements to deliver a compelling product.
  • Provide clear leadership, and decision making to resolve conflicting product and project requirements.
  • Deliver project on time to the success criteria to maximise return on investment.
  • Manage both product cost and project spend to ensure the business objectives are achieved.
  • Influence the “go to market” strategy to optimise sales volume and market mix to promote profit.
  • Ensure product reliability and quality targets are achieved.
  • Escalate relevant project risks and issues at the right time to the right forum to remove blockers.
  • Drive a culture of identification and resolution of project risks and issues.
  • Engage in the operations and procurement strategy and execution to deliver a robust manufacturing and supply solution.
  • Proactively champion change & continuous improvement to adopt better ways of working.

About you

  • Degree in Engineering or Science or demonstrate equivalent experience. Knowledge of Systems Engineering is preferred.
  • 8+ years’ experience of managing technical or manufactured products end to end.
  • Knowledge and understanding of multiple tooling and manufacturing techniques.
  • Proven experience of delivering robust design solutions on time, to specification and within cost and budget constraints.
  • Project management capability including schedule and risk management is required.
  • Experience delivering within a product development framework required.
  • Experience in both mechanical and electrical engineering (hardware & software).
  • Exposure to production operations, procurement, supply chain, marketing and sales required.
  • Experience of managing people, mentoring, and coaching.

  • Commercial awareness: able to balance product offering with project delivery to optimise business case and maximise return on investment.
