Research & Strategy Intern (Qualitative & Quantitative) at DEPT®

This role is part of our Creative & Media team based in Rotterdam and Amsterdam. Our team is a vibrant mix of talents, ranging from Creatives, Influencer Marketers, Brand & Content Strategists to Account Managers, Programmatic and Marketing Automation Consultants. JOB PURPOSE

We’re looking for a Research & Strategy Intern to support our growing research function at DEPT®. As part of our research team, you’ll gain hands-on experience conducting both quantitative and qualitative research, helping to uncover insights that drive digital strategy, marketing, and experience design. In addition, you’ll support the Strategy team in advising our key clients on their marketing effort - building frameworks to guide the narrative of the strategy. This role is ideal for someone with an analytical mindset, curiosity about human behavior, and a passion for turning data into actionable insights.

You’ll work alongside our Research Lead and a Researcher specializing in quantitative methods, supporting a variety of projects—ranging from audience profiling and consumer behavior analysis to qualitative interviews and creative testing. If you’re excited about combining numbers with narratives and learning how research fuels strategy, this internship is for you!

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in quantitative research: running analyses using platforms like GWI, Statista, and other data tools to uncover audience and market insights. Additionally, uncovering ways to better automate systems, from data pulling to reporting.
  • Support qualitative research: contributing to participant recruitment, note-taking, and assisting in interviews, surveys, and focus groups.
  • Conduct competitive analysis and trend research to help inform strategy and positioning.
  • Synthesize research findings into clear, concise reports and presentations for internal teams and clients.
  • Collaborate with strategists, designers, and media teams to integrate research into real-world projects.
  • Support Strategy team in bringing the research and strategy to life for clients.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • You are currently a 3rd-year student or above, looking for a working internship (‘meewerkstage’) for at least 4 days per week, for a minimum of 5-6 months.
  • You have a strong analytical mindset and curiosity about digital culture, consumer behavior, and business strategy.
  • You’re comfortable working with both qualitative and quantitative data—whether it’s digging through survey results or identifying key themes from interviews.
  • You have experience with tools like Excel, Google Sheets, PowerPoint/Keynote, and Google Slides.
  • Strong communication skills in English (Dutch is a bonus but not required).
  • A proactive, self-driven attitude—you take ownership of tasks and are eager to learn.
