Chapter Lead ETL

At a glance

Are you an insightful leader with a passion for ETL development? We are seeking an enthusiastic and outspoken Chapter Lead to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will guide and mentor a team of talented IT engineers, drive innovation in our Axiom application, and ensure the delivery of high-quality software.

Banks have to deal with an increasing level of reporting requirements by the regulators. Within our team, we develop and implement solutions to meet new requirements as well as to improve existing requirements. Besides the supervisors, also our internal stakeholders, who are responsible for delivering the Reports, have requirements for our reporting application called Axiom ControllerView. The internal stakeholders’ requests range from Data Quality improvements to better analysis possibilities and much more.

The team's scope covers the Accounting and Reporting area. We build and maintain software to deliver a variety of regulatory reports, such as reports on Liability Data, Liquidity Coverage Ratio, Monthly Securities, Bail-in and more. Also, the Balance Sheet and P&L statement of the bank are created in our application.

As a Chapter Lead you contribute to this by enhancing the IT craftsmanship in the team while also working on the software implementation. Our employees get the freedom to grow and experiment. You support and guide them, so they can become the technical experts that contribute to a future-proof bank.

Your job

As Chapter Lead, you will combine working as an IT Engineer, with your role as Lead. About 60% of the time you will work in your own scrum team as an IT Engineer and the rest of the time you will work on improving craftsmanship and HR tasks of your chapter.

The role of an IT Engineer covers amongst others:

  • Development and maintenance of software in the Axiom ControllerView application.
  • Data analysis using Axiom ControllerView and/or SQL.
  • Connecting with and understanding the requirements of stakeholders.
  • Testing new software – technical and functional.
  • Analysing Data Quality issues and taking mitigating actions.
  • Daily communication with the Scrum team and other stakeholders in various levels and departments in the bank.

The role of a Chapter Lead includes:

  • Educating yourself and others with the right technical capabilities and the latest innovations.
  • Mentoring your Chapter members on technical craftsmanship as well as soft skills.
  • Take care of the HR processes to facilitate all aspects relating to the influx, development, performance and outflux of employees.
  • Create and foster a healthy working environment and a positive culture for your Chapter.

Next to implementing regulatory requirements, the team also has an IT application to take care of. This means that Incident Management, Release Management and Life Cycle Management are also part of the work. Furthermore, we are also working on automation using scripting and configuration inside the Axiom ControllerView application.

Working environment

Our Scrum team consists of a Product Owner, Business Developers and IT Engineers. The combination of these different roles in one team promotes thorough collaboration between business and IT. The Axiom team is part of a value chain which contains a number of teams who collaborate closely to meet our goals of Regulatory compliance and digital excellence. You will find yourself in an informal work environment with enough time for laughter, fun and social events.

At ABN AMRO, we have a hybrid way of working, which means that you can work from the office as well as from home. In practice, most employees work 2 or 3 days from home and 2 or 3 days from the office. The Axiom team likes to come to the office 2 days a week for the efficient collaboration, good team bonding and nice atmosphere. You’ll work in a DevOps team with a diverse set of skills and cultures. This includes working together with offshore colleagues via Teams, amongst others.

Your profile

  • 5+ years of experience as a developer in the field of ETL (Axiom ControllerView is what we use, but not a must) or SQL.
  • Relevant experience or visible affinity with leadership, coaching and HR
  • Hands-on experience with different capabilities in IT such as (business) analysis, design, development, testing, operations and life cycle management.
  • Working experience with Agile Scrum, and using backlog planning tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira in an IT working environment.
  • You are able to translate functional business requirements into software solutions. Accordingly, you are able to translate software into business value.
  • You are aware of recent IT developments such as Cloud, DevOps, Python, SaaS, etc.
  • You have good communication skills: you are able to explain complex IT matters to internal stakeholders and external third parties in an understandable way
  • You are fluent in English

We are offering

  • The gross monthly salary displayed above is based on a 36-hour work week, including vacation pay and benefit budget.
  • The Benefit Budget is 11% of your salary. The Benefit Budget allows you to acquire additional employment benefits. If you make no purchases or reservations in the Benefit Shop in a given month, you are paid one twelfth of your Benefit Budget that month.
  • Five weeks of vacation per year. You have the option to purchase an additional four weeks per year.
  • Personal development Budget of € 1,000 per year, which you can accumulate up to € 3,000.
  • Possibility to work from home (in consultation with your team and depending on your position).
  • An annual public transport pass with free public transportation throughout the Netherlands.
