Are you the foundation expert with drilling experience ready to tackle complex, one-of-a-kind offshore projects? Join our team and make a lasting impact!

A unique maritime adventure

Your role in the story

As a Foundation Engineer, you will work within the Technology department, specifically within the Foundation Engineering group. This Leiden (The Netherlands) based team provides essential geotechnical support for product and business development, studies, tenders, and commercial projects within Wind, T&I, and Decommissioning. To strengthen our Foundation Team, we are looking for a Foundation Engineer with experience in or an affinity for drilling. This means you either have, or are eager to develop, a solid understanding of drilling tools, methods, and ground-related specifications and considerations.

What makes this role unique?

You will work on one-of-a-kind projects that are both large-scale and highly complex. Your (multidisciplinary) drilling expertise will play a crucial role in identifying risks and opportunities, helping us succeed on challenging sites, and delivering exceptional, high-impact results. In addition to the above, you will determine the appropriate pile-driving equipment and assess stability during installation in the preparation phase of platform or monopile installations. Reviewing the pile design, including sensitivity to pile sway, and performing a pile drivability analysis will be essential to planning and supporting the tender team’s risk analyses.

What you will be working on:

  • Identifying and selecting the required drilling equipment and aids on the structures;
  • Ensuring seamless alignment between foundation engineers and in-house engineers for flawless (drilled) pile installations;
  • Collaborating with drilling subcontractors to execute project effectively;
  • Managing the grouting scope linked to drilling operations;
  • Providing pile design input through drivability analysis, monopile stability assessments, and detailing of drilled and grouted foundations;
  • Offering offshore engineering support and interface with (drilling) subcontractor(s) aboard the world’s largest crane vessels.
  • Involvement in selecting, designing, and allocating pile installation equipment (e.g., hammers, pile lifting tools, drilling gear);
  • Review bottom stability and mudmat analyses for substructures such as jackets and templates;

Is this the job for you?

  • You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering;
  • You have 1-5 years of experience in the geotechnical field;
  • You have worked on prospects involving drilled foundations, with a solid understanding of the associated risks and challenges for contractors;
  • You excel at bridging the gap between departments for multidisciplinary scopes like drilling;
  • You are eager to deepen and share knowledge of drilling in both office and offshore environments;
  • You critically evaluate and challenge innovative drilling methods that are new to the company;
  • You possess strong analytical skills to assess pile installation and provide valuable feedback to project teams and clients.
  • You have software skills (e.g., Python) or are enthusiastic about learning and improving programs;
  • You are open to learning and refining (drivability) software based on your offshore experience;
