Cloud Engineer (Azure) at TNO

Want to make your mark on our time? Come work as a Cloud Engineer (Azure) at TNO in The Hague!

About this position

Working as a Cloud Engineer at TNO means contributing to research and innovative applications that matter. From the energy transition and the application of secure AI in healthcare to the future of digital identity and our safety.

What will be your role?

TNO has recently started its cloud transformation. As a Cloud Engineer, you play a significant role in this. You will have the opportunity to shape and define this transformation together with your colleagues. This includes developing the Azure Platform, creating standards for Infrastructure as Code (IaC), developing the necessary automation for self-service in the Azure cloud, and supporting the setup of IaC and CI/CD for cloud applications. Since this is relatively new for TNO, you can also play a role in coaching colleagues, both technically and in their way of working.

As a Cloud Engineer at TNO, you will work with a diverse range of internal clients. These can be scientists conducting advanced research on cloud technology or colleagues with no knowledge of cloud technology. The development requests are therefore diverse, making it challenging as it is not a standard package that needs to be developed and managed. So this is a role where you have a lot of space to contribute to the direction and implementation of the cloud transition within a very diverse environment and where you directly contribute to societal importance.

The team
The Cloud Engineer works within an Agile team consisting of 5 colleagues, which we want to expand to 7 colleagues. The location is The Hague, right next to Central Station. We work in a hybrid manner. The Cloud team is part of the Infrastructure team, which consists of over 30 professionals.

What we expect from you

We are looking for a Cloud Engineer with experience in:

  • Azure (Enterprise Scale Landing Zone Architecture);
  • Infrastructure as Code (Bicep), CI/CD (Azure DevOps, YAML, GitLab), PowerShell, Azure CLI;
  • Azure Policy and Policy-as-Code;
  • Azure PaaS services (networking, compute, storage, database);
  • DevOps way of working, Agile, Scrum.

Additionally, you are attracted to the idea of not entering an already standardized environment but rather being able to shape and define the transition to the cloud. If you also enjoy coaching colleagues in this transition, that is certainly possible.

What you'll get in return

Challenging and varied work with a real impact. And plenty of opportunities as, at TNO, you are in charge of shaping your career. We offer a gross monthly salary between € 4,500,- and € 5,700,- (based on your knowledge and experience), 8% holiday pay, a 13th month bonus of 8.33% and a flex budget (5.58% + € 180). In addition, you will be given every opportunity to develop yourself.

TNO offers optional employee benefits, enabling you to tailor your benefits package to match your personal situation. You may also expect:

  • An extremely professional, innovative working environment where colleagues are leading experts in their field.
  • The opportunity to attend courses, workshops and conferences, and to receive training and coaching based on your needs.
  • 33 days annual leave on a full-time basis.
  • An employer that values and encourages diverse talent, with initiatives like the Female Leadership Program, our Rainbow Community and round tables on inclusion topics.
  • We offer a comprehensive and flexible mobility plan that also includes full compensation for public transportation for commuting and business travel.
  • Great social events with your team and other TNO colleagues. That’s how you will get to know a lot of people really quickly.
  • Flexible working hours, the possibility to work part-time (32 or 36 hours) and the possibility of working from home.
  • Access to our Talent Development Programme.
  • Networking opportunities and great activities organized by Jong TNO.
  • Access to TNO’s project managers guild: a network of some three hundred equals. The guild organizes workshops, conferences, intervision sessions and other activities for project managers.
  • A good pension scheme.
