Software Architect 3D iApps / Technical Lead

Job Description

Software Architect 3D iApps / Technical Lead

Define and steer the execution of the software technical roadmap for 3D Interventional Applications utilizing your hands-on software skills, in combination with active coaching and mentoring a team of 10 to 15 development and test engineers in a high-performance team.

Your role:

  • You make a substantial contribution to the innovation of our clinical products. You will help develop new clinical products and supporting platforms, using the latest software technologies and resources.
  • You lead, define, and steer the SW-technical roadmap considering SW technologies (CI/CD, BDD/TDD, Clean Code, AI and model-driven development), application trends, non-SW technologies (image processing trends, etc.).
  • You build and lead a high-performance team and establish mission, purpose, and goals for employees in your team. You coach the team in the use of new technology, the appropriate engineering principles, design rules, and procedures. You are responsible for capability management of the team: together with your peers, you will be developing and maintaining a long-term strategy on the required competencies and skills to introduce new technologies.
  • You safeguard consistency in design choices, budgeting of shared resources, manage SW interfaces across projects and become responsible for the implementation of the architecture in modular easy to maintain and extendible parts (components and modules). You know how to balance feature delivery and technical debt amortization while maintaining existing technology and innovation to satisfy business needs.
  • You will become part of an extremely driven International cross-functional R&D team of the business unit Image Guided Therapy Systems R&D. Your local team is in Best (Eindhoven North), The Netherlands, and you will collaborate with other teams globally. Thereby making it a multidisciplinary international endeavor, where flexibility is key.

You're the right fit if:

  • You have a MSc or PhD degree in electrical engineering, computer science (or equivalent).
  • Have obtained 10+ years of experience in software development, and at least 3 years of experience as a Software Architect, technical product owner, or staff engineer in an agile development environment, combined with a strong passion for software design being up to date with the latest trends, technologies, and related areas.
  • You have proven experience with high-performance software design and development, design patterns, SOLID principles, TDD, Clean architecture, and writing efficient code.
  • Are an inspiring software leader, experienced in building high-performance teams, establishing a mission, purpose, and goals for employees and teams as well as coaching and mentoring your team members on career development.
  • Possess the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, as well as creating clear architectural overviews and roadmaps. Able to successfully translate solutions and ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • You are known and respected for being hands-on and fully up to speed with modern SW technologies (e.g. C++ 20, 3D rendering with DirectX/OpenGL and computational geometry), configuration management and deployment systems – GitHub, package management, orchestration tools, Docker, cloud computing.

How we work together
We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations. This role is an office role.
