How do you make our customers happy?

By empowering our engineering organisation in any way you can. If you spot opportunities to improve software development practices and/or streamline processes, you’re on it. Even when that calls for redefining roles or introducing new tools. As our Tech Expert, you’ll be the ‘creator and grower’ of a highly motivated tech workforce that isn’t ‘just’ equipped to deliver the coding, but also knows exactly how to work together with product to be successful.

The biggest challenge

Our tech domain has grown organically over the years, and at a very rapid pace. In some cases, this has resulted in unclear processes and roles in various stages of software development. Your goal is to restore focus and enable teams to continually develop their craftsmanship, ensuring simplified, unified, and adaptive software delivery practices. A big ask, but if you succeed, the result will be a tech organization driven by empowerment, mastery, and purpose. And an environment where every engineer feels stimulated to make a real difference for our customers and partners.

What you'll do as Tech Craft Lead

Reporting to the Manager Craftsmanship & Community Management, you will play a crucial role in enhancing engineering excellence and fostering a product-driven innovation culture. You’ll develop and clarify individual tech roles, incorporating an outside-in view on state-of-the-art engineering practices. What works? Why? And how can we implement those ways of structuring and working? Your primary responsibility will be to empower and motivate our engineering community by identifying opportunities to improve software development practices and streamline processes. You will act as a catalyst for change, driving the adoption of best practices and new tools to ensure our tech organization is agile, efficient, and highly effective.

Working closely with recruitment, engineering leadership and the community & onboarding team, you’ll co-create methods to attract and select tech talent. You’ll also advise on software development and delivery practices, collaborating with Tech leadership to stimulate synergy. Success calls for cultivating a thriving community of practice for tech leadership, driving knowledge sharing through informal and formal communities. Leverage your understanding of agile software development processes and the product mindset to help teams decide on cooperative tooling. Promote a product-led and agile mindset. And remove any ‘noise’ that detracts from delivering high quality engineered products that works for our colleagues, customers, and partners. In summing up, you contribute to:

  • Evolving the tech organization's roles and responsibilities
  • Ensure clear career advancement opportunities for engineers by building on our job family framework
  • Developing and implementing state-of-the-art engineering practices
  • Collaborating on recruitment strategies for tech talent
  • Advising on software development and delivery improvements (both process and content)
  • Fostering a strong tech leadership community of practice
  • Defining cooperative tooling needs for engineers (e.g. JIRA, Confluence)
  • Fostering a culture of measuring Tech metrics (e.g. DORA, cycle time, modularity)
