As (Senior) "Quant", you will analyze data, forecast based on your complex valuations within the context of the continuously challenging energy market. Success in this dynamic market is defined by successfully balancing risk and commercial opportunity and supporting swift decision-making. The real 'fun part' in this role is designing, developing, supervising, and maintaining predictive, optimization, and valuation models as well as making commercial decisions driven by data and analytics.

You don’t just analyze data! You see commercial opportunities as a (Senior) Quantitative Analyst and you make full use of them by:

  • Carrying out and/or supervising (as senior*) analyses of data and converting data into usable information and insights for portfolio hedging, optimization, origination, pricing/sales sourcing, forecasting, and reporting
  • Developing and managing models for the risk insights, hedging, sourcing, including but not limited to the modeling and prediction of customer demand, market prices, underlying drivers, and risks
  • Modeling and sharing insights about EM risk exposures, challenging the market dynamics, and working on continuous improvements
  • Performing valuations of (complex*) deals (renewable PPA’s, storages, batteries, weather hedges, etc.) and (complex*) hedging strategies
  • Swift analysis of market dynamics, and energy transition impact on our portfolio and the market and translating such drivers into valuations and steering actions
  • Advising stakeholders in policy and strategy using data-based insights and quantitative analytics

*As a Senior you'll be coaching junior analysts, enabling the capabilities growth within the team, and potentially coordinating the work of a group of colleagues working on a joint goal. As Senior, you also take responsibility for aligning with senior stakeholders, Central Portfolio Strategy, Risk and Compliance teams, and then develop the necessary models and/or perform the required analytics and valuations whereby taking ownership, caring about your team, clients, and stakeholders, focus on delivery and growth mindset are expected.

You'll join the Energy Analytics team in the Energy Markets department (approx. 40 FTE).


Jij bent Essent

We’re looking for a team player and go-getter who wants to make the Netherlands a bit more sustainable. Who look at what is possible now. Today. To bring us closer to tomorrow. You recognize yourself in this and in the following:

  • A Master degree preferred in Mathematics or Econometrics or similar “data” – PhD/3 yr. experience preferably in the field of structuring, modeling, and analytics in the energy market
  • Advanced knowledge of Regression, AI, and Machine learning techniques, Python, DataBricks, and Azure environment and extended statistical and technical knowledge
  • Language skills in English is a must, Dutch is strongly preferred.
