The Role

As Team Lead Extended Reality (xR) at Damen Naval, you are responsible for an extended reality (xR) team in support of research, design, engineering, and/or production processes of an (innovative, naval) project. You will contribute to further development and promotion of the application of xR in projects and for prospects to internal and external stakeholders. Responsible for quality, timely delivery, and reporting to the (project) management, you'll deliver training solutions to the customer as part of a bigger project to make sure they are ideally prepared for their service on board. As Team Lead Extended xR, you will be responsible for:

• Leading, coaching, and developing a small to medium-sized international xR team working on special naval projects.
• Managing team activities, budget, and timelines, ensuring that xR initiatives are delivered on schedule and within budget.
• Providing regular progress reports and relevant project management updates.
• Overseeing the implementation and compliance of xR activities to meet all project requirements and specifications.
• Acting as a Product Owner in the team’s agile workflow, guiding team members in achieving project goals.
• Communicating and collaborating across departments, with customers, suppliers, and subprojects to ensure xR alignment and integration.
• Championing the use and adoption of xR solutions both within Damen Naval and in interactions with external stakeholders.
• Promoting continuous learning, improvement, and knowledge sharing within the xR domain.

Skills & Experience

To excel as Lead Extended xR, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:

• Bachelor or Master degree in business or management, plus at least five years of relevant experience as an xR team leader.
• Strong background in xR development, solutions, and applications, with a solid understanding of military and naval contexts.
• Proven experience leading agile teams, with the ability to foster collaboration in cross-cultural settings.
• Proficiency in English and Dutch (German skills are advantageous).

Key Competencies: Customer focus, results-oriented mindset, leadership, flexibility, and strong communication and organizational skills. Excellent references antecedents as a pre-assignment security screening is part of the recruitment procedure. Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with (also) a non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible given the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
