Senior Project Engineer Electrical

What is your job?

In this role, you will have the EIC responsibility for your project from start to finish, reporting to the project manager. You will provide expert input and advice in the field of electrical engineering, focusing mainly on the preparation of electrical system concepts, configurations, and studies of high voltage and low voltage distribution systems, equipment requisitions, and leading the electrical engineering and design team. The job includes new constructions, modifications, and revamp work.

Your responsibilities include:

• Realizing modifications, new constructions, or renovations of complex (business-critical) technological production installations.
• Managing the long-term improvement agenda for your discipline and development of the electrical engineering expert area.
• Being responsible for time, technology, and budget concerning electrical engineering, with the focus on Power Systems and Drive technology.
• Extending responsibility from the Study, Design & Build phase to the commissioning and aftercare phase.
• Ensuring the safety of the design in terms of ATEX, SIL & CE standards.
• Advising on planning, procurement, application, modification, installation, safety, and functionality in the field of electrical engineering.
• Defining mitigations and providing advice and judgment on deviations from standards/processes and delegating such authority where appropriate.
• Developing skills and competencies in electrical engineering in line with changing business needs and technical developments with a focus on design safety and integrity.
• Establishing continuous improvements of the technical services and sharing Best Practices within the organization but also peers in internal and external Technical/Scientific groups.

Is this you?

• At least a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Control Engineering.
• Extensive experience (10 yr +) predominantly associated with engineering, design, construction, and electrical equipment used in industry.
• Sound knowledge of applicable national and international codes, regulations, and standards (such as NEN, EN, IEC, and Client standards based on that).
• Practical field/site experience for the electrical installation.
• Fluency in English and at least some level of Dutch. We can help you learn the latter.

As part of Engineering & Site Services, we are a proactive and professional provider of project management and services based on specific process installation and technical knowledge. As an internal engineering office, we deliver our services for the realization and continuous improvement of the production installations of Tata Steel IJmuiden.
