Senior Legal Counsel, Employment Law

We are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel, Employment Law (UK) to join our team in London, UK. The Senior Legal Counsel (Employment Law) functions as a contact point and discussion partner for the business units for all employment-related legal affairs, including matters of substantial operational and/or commercial importance.

Key Accountabilities

  • Advises and takes a leading role in the preparation and resolution of disputes and settlement agreements related to employees, ensuring outcomes are in the best interests of the Company.
  • Liaises with external lawyers when legal proceedings are necessary.
  • Acts as a gatekeeper in minimizing legal risk related to addressed matters.
  • Provides legal advice to HR and the Business, including reviewing policies and procedures.
  • Keeps track of new legislation, advises the Company, and assists with implementing required legal amendments to policies and procedures.
  • Maintains contacts with business/company lawyers and participates in study groups on various legal subjects.
  • Provides expertise in works council matters.
  • Drafts, negotiates, and advises on a wide range of legal employment matters, including restructures, individual complex issues, TUPE, large framework agreements for outsourcing, and commercial contracts.
  • Works with HR and Business Services procurement team on Contingent Labour Contracts.
  • Provides more general commercial legal support depending on capacity.
  • Advises in other legal areas where necessary.

Knowledge & Experience

Preferred education/qualifications:

  • Relevant years of working experience in the employment area with a University Master of law degree.
  • Good knowledge of the law and other specialist areas (e.g., contract and commercial law), with practical legal experience in an international business context or a law firm.
  • Experience in providing detailed and solid legal support on general policy issues.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Negotiating skills and social skills in representing interests and providing advisory work.
  • Ability to interact professionally with all levels and cultural backgrounds in the organization.
  • Strong writing skills to accurately and inventively express matters, contracts, and reports in legal terms.
  • Team player with a hands-on mentality.
  • Experience or ability to work in a dynamic, high-paced organization.
  • Good level of spoken and written English needed.
