About the Role

We are searching for a (Jr.) Technology Specialist for the Electric & Hybrid Propulsion System Platform team within our Technology Management department. This platform is a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the development, standardization, and lifecycle maintenance of the entire Electric & Hybrid Propulsion systems for our Workboats product portfolio.

As a Technology Specialist, you will join the Electric & Hybrid Propulsion System Platform team. Themes such as Sustainability, Digital, and Autonomous operations are integral to the DAMEN DNA, making this an exciting time for the deck equipment team with numerous innovations and new designs setting the standard in the maritime industry. Your role will involve conceptual design of Electric & Hybrid Propulsion systems, working with teams from different platforms, including Main Machinery and IT on board, as well as suppliers. You will translate requirements into concepts and ensure they deliver the necessary outcomes.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop new technology and standardize modular and scalable system families.
  • Manage concept development projects within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Define technology requirements in line with business needs and market opportunities.
  • Convert requirements into functional and conceptual designs with a team of specialists and engineers.
  • Produce essential engineering deliverables such as system definition documents and functional descriptions.
  • Support and review engineering information during the engineering process.
  • Guide technology development with suppliers by setting and reviewing technical solutions.
  • Document and manage knowledge through system principles, instructions, and training materials.
  • Advise and support product platform teams on integrating technology in ship types.
  • Conduct FMEA analysis and HAZID studies, and arrange class approvals.
  • Develop detailed test and validation plans to ensure regulatory compliance and requirement validation during simulation and testing.

You are:

  • Enthusiastic, open, communicative, and a true team player.

  • Decisive yet flexible in your approach, working methodically.
  • Capable of seeing the bigger picture and influencing peers.
  • Willing to travel (based in The Netherlands).

You have:

  • An academic level with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical direction, such as Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Process Automation, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of this specific technical domain in a relevant industry.
  • Experience applying Systems Engineering principles.
  • Experience with the development and integration of marine installations, collaborating with third parties.
  • Familiarity with marine industry standards and regulations.
  • A high degree of quality consciousness and accuracy.
  • Effective communication skills in English; Dutch is a plus.
