About the Improvements team

As Technical Writer you will be part of the Improvements team within the Operations/Maintenance department. This department is responsible for making sure our global operation runs safely and efficiently. The Improvements team works on the continuous improvement and operational excellence of the current Ampelmann fleet and worldwide operation. This is done by creating add-ons and improving designs, standards, procedures, and services to maintain the highest level of safety and quality. Within the team you will work together with our other technical writer and across other departments with a diverse group of colleagues where multiple areas of expertise are represented: Asset and Reliability Engineering, Mechanical Design Engineering, Structural Engineering, Control Engineering, HSE. In this role you will report to the Team Lead Improvements.

Your role as Technical Writer

You will play a key role in supporting the maintenance program with accurate and up-to-date maintenance documentation. You are responsible for having the latest approved versions of the documents available to support global maintenance activities on systems onshore at our various yards and offshore on projects.

Regular activities:

  • Independently analyze the need for maintenance manuals and procedures.
  • Write technical manuals, ensure correct versioning, revision management and release documents after final approval.
  • Work with internal teams to develop documentation requirements and content.
  • Identify process improvements for our technical documentation processes.
  • Keep the database of existing manuals up to date, both for the onshore and the offshore parts of the organization.
  • Continuously improve and optimize processes as needed.

We ask:

  • BSc degree, (mechanical) engineering or equivalent.
  • 2-5 years relevant working experience and demonstrated written communication skills in the preparation of technical documentation.
  • Analytical skills: collecting information, cataloguing, and making it available for usage.
  • Accuracy and preciseness in developing technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to explain, in simple language, complex technical information by thinking from the perspective of the end-user.
  • Working pro-actively, independently, and engaging people to acquire information
  • Being eager to explore innovative approaches and methodologies (e.g. cutting-edge tools, AI)
  • Excellent communication skills in English, spoken and written.
  • Experience with authoring in Content Management Systems such as Author-IT, Arbortext.
  • Familiar with writing in Simplified Technical English (STE).
