Data Engineer

As a Data Engineer you know the world of data and analytics well, and within a short period of time you will know how to link this perfectly to the complex work field within ABN AMRO.

Your job

Your role focuses on formulating and developing our data needs, environment and platform. Additionally you will contribute to improve our data sourcing, processing and data quality. Through close collaboration and analysis, you retrieve the exact data needs of Platform & Technologies and you know how to technically implement this in the platform. You are interchangeably working on, among other things, setting up our future-proof data architecture, making the correct data available, unlocking the necessary data, and developing the data pipelines making the data available for analysis. Together with the team you will be responsible to ensure our solution adheres to standards and policies set by internal and external parties.

You and the rest of the team will create the basis of a data driven organisation that can rely on the data engineering capabilities of our team. You will work closely with the senior data engineers to engage in training the junior data engineers to become a well-oiled DevOps capable data engineering team and together with the team members you will guarantee the technical alignment with stakeholders throughout P&T. Combining technology and knowledge, your contribution is essential for P&T to become an data driven organisation.

P&T is a service-based organisation, providing IT to ABN AMRO employees and grids with reliable, in control, business-enabling, easily adaptable and future-proof IT platforms & technologies which can be consumed via self-service mechanism and allow a shorter time to market for (new) functionalities.

The Data & Analytics team within P&T forms and implements the strategy to ensure our activities are as data-driven as possible or to provide data-driven support. Data & Analytics ensures a data-driven mindset and competence throughout P&T. Data & Analytics’ core activities align with regulatory requirements and ABN AMRO’s strategy.

As a Data Engineer you’re part of the Data & Analytics team of P&T. The team has about 10 team members and is responsible for all data and analytics related activities within P&T. We are a new and dynamic team that is characterized by good cooperation. Fun in our work is paramount in which we work enthusiastically on all the varied data and analytics activities that strengthens the bank.

Your profile

You have at least 2 years of relevant work experience, with a relevant HBO / WO study

• You have experience in working with complex data sets, tools and components within data architecture
• You have experience transforming data using SQL, Python and Spark
• You have extensive experience with improving data quality, reliability and efficiency
• You have experience working in a DevOps team
• You have extensive experience with data integration activities (ETL)
• You have extensive experience working with cloud solutions, preferably Azure and Databricks
• You have experience working in an Agile environment
• You are focused on collaboration, innovation and achieving goals
• You are fluent in English (Dutch is a bonus, not a must)

• The gross monthly salary displayed above is based on a 36-hour work week, including vacation pay and benefit budget.
• The Benefit Budget is 11% of your salary. The Benefit Budget allows you to acquire additional employment benefits. If you make no purchases or reservations in the Benefit Shop in a given month, you are paid one twelfth of your Benefit Budget that month.
• Five weeks of vacation per year. You have the option to purchase an additional four weeks per year.
