Damen Global Support BV offers various supporting services to all Damen companies/divisions. Services like Global Marketing, Global Sales, Global IT, HR, Finance, Logistics, Procurement and group Expertise functions.

THE ROLE

As Business Controller you are part of the Control-team of the Finance & Control department of Damen Global Support.

In this role you will work closely with departments with Global Support, to ensure effective financial management and decision-making within these departments and Global Support as a whole. And you have an important role in the budget and forecasting process.

This role requires a deep understanding of both Finance and IT, as well as the ability to translate technical concepts into financial insights. Controlling the IT costs is an important part in this role including business partnering with the IT-leadership. The Business Controller will collaborate closely with team leaders to optimize financial performance, drive cost efficiency, and contribute to the achievement of strategic objectives.

Is this role you report to the Finance director of Damen Global Support.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Performance Tracking and Reporting:

  • Monitor and report on key financial metrics, providing timely and accurate updates to Finance leadership and departmental leaders, including IT.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to visualize financial performance and aid in decision-making.
  • Conduct variance analysis to explain deviations from budgets and forecasts, recommending corrective actions as necessary.
  • Support the month-end closing, and responsible for forecasting and reporting.

Financial Analysis and Planning:

  • Analyze project budgets (including IT Digital Program), expenditures, and forecasts, identifying potential risks, opportunities, and cost-saving measures.
  • Offering real-time insights into budget utilization, burn rate, and cost-efficiency.
  • Prepare the financials to evaluate the financial feasibility of initiatives, ensuring alignment with overall business goals.
  • Collaborate with the teams to create accurate and insightful financial projections and budgets.
  • Facilitate informed decision-making at all levels of the organization.

Cost Management IT:

  • Partner with IT managers to optimize IT spending and resource allocation.
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities while maintaining operational efficiency and quality.
  • Assist in negotiation and vendor management to secure cost-effective IT solutions and services.

Business Partnering:

  • Collaborate closely with the teams to understand their initiatives, projects, and (technological) needs.
  • Provide financial insights and guidance to help the leaders make informed decisions that align with overall business strategies.
  • Critical view on outcomes and decisions.

Forecasting and Budgeting:

  • Lead the annual budgeting process, working with all stakeholders to create realistic and achievable financial plans. Supporting a smooth allocation process to the supported Damen divisions.
  • Develop financial forecasts that consider both short-term and long-term initiatives and their impact on the organization's financial health.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • A Master degree in Finance, Accounting, Business administration, or a related field;
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in finance, with a focus on financial analysis, budgeting, and cost management;
  • A solid understanding of IT operations, technologies, and project management. Preferably experienced in IT-cost controlling;
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting techniques, and data analysis;
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams;
  • Advanced proficiency in financial software and tools, including PowerBI, Excel, SAP4Hana, ERP systems, and data visualization tools;
  • A detail-oriented attitude with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities;
  • The ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities effectively;
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written.
