The role

Move beyond compiling data and help tell the story behind the numbers. This position offers the opportunity to drive financial decision making within Booking.com.

In this Junior Financial Analyst, Attractions role you will be part of a dynamic, international and fast-paced team, working in the scope of the Trips department and the Flights vertical. This position is based in our HQ in Amsterdam and will report to the Manager of FP&A, Flights & Attractions.

You will work closely with various stakeholders responsible for commercial aspects of the flights business. You will act as a bridge between financial data and decision making on a wide array of topics. You will be responsible for reporting and analyzing the performance of the Flights vertical of Booking.com, including revenues, expenses and other KPIs. Your responsibilities will include building dashboards, maintaining data workflows yourself and through collaboration with other teams, analyzing trading performance, and reporting and explaining variances versus budget and forecast. When needed, you will also help with ad-hoc analysis and forecasting.

Due to the rapid and continuous growth of the organization, the tasks and duties of this role will evolve over time. You will be keen to develop and grow within the role and challenge yourself to take on additional projects and responsibilities as they present themselves.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain automated reports and dashboards to enhance performance reporting and provide access to data to other teams and business leadership.
  • Own flights data workflows used by FP&A and maintain them jointly with the tech team.
  • Use SQL/Hadoop to conduct analysis, improve current reporting, and build new reporting.
  • Assist with business planning, financial forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Contribute to robust, scalable and insightful reporting of key metrics.
  • Continuously seek ways to improve existing processes and reporting to fit evolving requests from senior management.
  • Work with the accounting and business teams on month-end close to accurately report results, including explanatory comments.
  • Proactively deliver intelligence based on data and support and advise business partners whenever there is an opportunity.
  • Communicate proactively to help stakeholders understand market and business trends.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis, scenarios and benchmarking as needed and contribute to new business, expansion, cost control projects, and process improvement as business requires.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’ degree in Business, Finance, or other related field.
  • Around 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Financial modeling and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with SQL is a must; pre-existing knowledge of or desire to get familiar with Python and/or Spark is a plus.
  • Some experience with business partnering is a plus.
  • A critical mindset and a strong desire to aid in data-driven decision making.
  • The motivation to aid in problem solving and provide the best analytics possible to key decision makers.
  • A strong team player who also has the ability to work independently.
  • Comfortable working in cross-functional teams and in an unstructured environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously and drive projects to completion.
