About the team

Retail & Banking Technology is the engine behind ING’s global retail innovation. We set the tech standards, manage the global product and service portfolio, and act as the central point of contact for multiple retail countries. Our mission is to build scalable, reusable, and secure solutions that power global offerings. The architecture team is based in Amsterdam, and you will be joining 17 energetic colleagues, each bringing unique areas of focus and expertise.

Roles and Responsibilities

As our Global Enterprise Architect, you’ll:

• Translate business strategy into clear, future-ready architecture.
• Define and evolve architectural principles and models.
• Align global and local designs to deliver integrated services.
• Create roadmaps and guide the transformation of processes, products, and platforms.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, and engineers across countries.
• Drive innovation by analysing tech trends and market developments.
• Lead and contribute to workshops and governance boards.

How to Succeed

Domain Expertise:

• Solid knowledge of banking is a must.
• Architecture experience in a cross-country setup is a plus.
• You have a strong track record in enterprise architecture with proven delivery.
• Continuously track and learn new technology and stay on top of what’s next.
• Experience with modern APIs, cloud platforms (both private and public), and container technologies. Having an infrastructure background or knowledge is a plus.
• Awareness of cybersecurity and data privacy, keeping our customers safe, is the top priority.
• Skilled at designing great experiences, mapping customer journeys, and using proven frameworks like IAF, C4, and ArchiMate.

Professional Skills:

• A “go and get it done” working mode: you keep your promise and make it happen.
• Enjoy solving complex architecture puzzles and using tooling to present them, for example ArchiMate.
• Ability to grasp the essence of problems under short time pressure.
• Excellent collaboration and storytelling abilities, capable of conveying complex technical topics to various audiences.
• Curious, creative, and always refreshing your knowledge.
• Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus.
• Willingness to travel to ING’s retail countries.
