Adyen is looking for a Team Lead Accounts Payable to grow the Group Finance team in Amsterdam, overseeing two functions: Accounts Payable Process (part of Procure to Pay) as well as General Ledger (Record to Report) Accounting. You will not just manage processes; you will motivate and coach a team of 8 people to elevate their impact from operational activities toward full operational accounting ownership.

Your goal is to ensure the "financial engine room" runs with absolute precision, overseeing that all invoice data is received in an audit-proof manner, correctly booked in the ledger, and paid timely. You will be the driving force that empowers the team to own the operational and capital expenditure ledgers, and ensure the integrity of the General Ledger within Adyen’s trial balance, ensuring our finance organization scales effectively as we grow.

What you’ll do

People:

  • Lead and mentor the direct reports, act as a role model for the organization and cultivate a winning culture, facilitate learning and development, manage and plan resources, and oversee the team’s day-to-day way of working.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate across Group Finance (Financial Controlling, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Tax) and with non-finance stakeholders (Procurement, Legal, Infrastructure, and HR).
  • Cross-functional Alignment: Work closely with global leads, operational teams, and the broader finance organization.

Process:

  • Operations Optimization: Optimize and scale core processes such as supplier invoice processing, payments, and reconciliations.
  • Automation & Accuracy: Drive automation initiatives to streamline functions and improve data accuracy.
  • General Ledger Management: Manage GL activities related to operational and capital expenditures (for example, OPEX, CAPEX, Intercompany and leases).
  • Audit Support: Provide support and information to internal and external auditors regarding operational and capital expenditures.
  • Financial Analysis: Prepare variance analysis during the month-end closing process.

Who you are

  • You have 4-6 years of experience in financial control/accounting; and/or leadership in operational teams is a plus;
  • You are detail-oriented, with an analytical mindset;
  • You have a continuous improvement/ automation mindset;
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with ability to prioritize;
  • Able to think 2 steps ahead. We are looking for someone that can question the status quo, think critically and creatively to implement solutions to scale during Adyen’s rapid growth.
  • You have strong communication skills and know how to handle escalations;
