About this role

ING Financial Markets (FM) is the Bank’s gateway to the professional markets around the world. Our primary function is to fulfill the needs of ING Wholesale Banking’s (WB) clients with global markets products and services. FM aims to be a significant market player with presence in all the major international markets and selected emerging economies.

About Corporate Origination Sales

Our desk is the first point of contact for all FM related products towards ING’s corporate client base as well as internal stakeholders. Our main goal is to help our clients navigate global markets. We position them for stabilized growth by hedging their financial market risks like interest rates, foreign exchange, commodities and equity derivatives. On top, we assist corporates to manage their excess cash position by means of deposits, commercial paper and repos.

To originate and execute transactions for our clients, we continuously collaborate with various Wholesale Banking departments; Sector Coverage, Lending, Transaction Services and Capital Markets & Advisory. Within FM we work closely together with Client Solutions Group/Structuring and Execution Sales to process highly bespoke, and event driven hedging transactions and flow products. We also interact frequently with Legal, Risk and Ops.

Your role

We typically look for people with strong commercial acumen combined with an analytical skillset. You have a relentless drive to keep getting better each day and can process requests with diligence and speed.

This job will position you in the fast-paced environment of financial markets and derivatives, but you will also gain a solid understanding of key WB banking products as our activities are usually intertwined with all WB’s divisions.

To match our activities with the WB Sector approach and to increase cross-buy we introduced a sector-focused sales operating model. The day-to-day straight forward execution (foreign exchange, money market, commodities) is done by the central Multi-Asset/Client execution desk. Therefore, alongside with senior sales, your primary responsibility is to further grow the business with Dutch clients in the sectors Technology, Media, Telecom and Healthcare (TMT&HC) and Corporate Sector Coverage (CSC), whereby you will actively participate in the full process of more complex, non-flow and loan linked strategic transactions.

Key responsibilities, you will

  • Grow your expertise assisting Senior Sales and Desk Head with execution of the sales growth plan and have client responsibility from day 1.
  • Specialize in focus areas: Financial Sponsors, Project Finance, TMT&HC and CSC Sector.
  • Create commercial content/presentations for the desk to liaise with clients on market and industry developments like sustainability, regulations and innovation.
  • Actively participate in origination, pricing, structuring and execution of transactions, mainly project finance/loan linked and/or Debt Capital Markets related.
  • Continuously identify, propose, and implement innovative ideas (via Risk Analytics).
  • Grow your network with internal FM/WB stakeholders.

  • E-driven and have a strong analytical skillset combined

As a FM Corp Sales you will also need

  • Academic working and thinking level; MSc. potentially topped up (or capable to top up) with a post-doctorate in finance (e.g. CFA, FRM or Register Treasurer)
  • Language skills: English and Dutch (or willingness to learn the latter), both written and verbal
  • Superior commercial skills (this applies to both internal and external contacts)
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to translate client challenges into product driven solutions/pitches
  • Last but certainly not least, you are laser focused to deliver day in day out for our fascinating client base in an organised and confident fashion
