Role overview
At Deloitte, you constantly discover new ways to solve difficult problems and you know how to inspire others. This role is ideal for an experienced cloud professional ready to step into strategic leadership. You'll act as the trusted technical soundboard, while fostering a culture of continuous learning and accountability.
This is a hands-on leadership position where you balance strategic vision with technical credibility, working closely with NSE Cloud, Global Services, and security teams to deliver secure, compliant, and cost-optimised cloud solutions.
Qualifications
- Technical: 8+ years IT experience, 5+ years hands-on cloud (Azure preferred), deep knowledge of networking, identity, storage, compute, PaaS, monitoring, and security. You understand architectural patterns and can design scalable, resilient, secure, cost-effective solutions.
- Leadership: 3+ years managing engineers (ideally 5+ for larger teams). You coach, give honest feedback, handle performance issues, and create psychological safety. You’ve worked in matrix organizations and influenced without direct authority.
- Mindset: You’ve navigated real trade-offs (speed vs. safety, cost vs. reliability). You’ve grown individual contributors into architects. You own outcomes, not just tasks. You’ve learned from failures and changed how you work.
Responsibilities
- Own the Cloud Platform Strategy. Anticipate where the organization is heading (compliance regimes, cost pressures, technology shifts) and translate that into a realistic roadmap. Make trade-off decisions with incomplete information and defend them to stakeholders. Maintain the roadmap as a living document, not a 5-year plan carved in stone.
- Lead Engineers Through Complexity. Do 1:1s that matter—real conversations about what they’re struggling with and where they want to grow. Coach on design decisions, not just implementation. Give feedback that sticks. Handle performance issues directly. Create space for learning and exploration.
- Take Accountability for Reliability, Security & Cost. Own the SLOs. When uptime dips, you’re leading incident response and root-cause analysis. You understand IAM, network security, encryption, and logging. You monitor cloud spend like it’s your own money and can explain why your bill is what it is.
- Navigate the Matrix Without Direct Authority. Translate between worlds (dev teams speak speed, security speaks risk, finance speaks cost). Manage expectations ruthlessly. Push back constructively when needed. Coordinate across teams so everyone knows what’s happening.
- Define Standards That Stick. Create patterns for IaC, CI/CD, tagging, backup/DR, and access management. Make standards stick through education, not enforcement. When teams break the rules, understand why and adjust if needed.
- Manage Vendors and Platforms. Monitor SLAs and hold vendors accountable. Represent your domain in audits. Evaluate new tools against architecture, security, and cost. Build relationships, not just transactions.
For this position we do not offer visa sponsorship and/or relocation.
