At ABN AMRO’s Central Data Office (CDO), you help ensure the bank stays compliant with rules and regulations related to data management & AI, while supporting the journey toward a fully data-driven organisation. You quickly immerse yourself in new initiatives, shape them, and ensure they are properly anchored for successful execution.

Your job

As Senior control coordinator for data, AI and BCBS239, you mature and drive the execution of the Control Framework for Data Management and help establish a new control framework for AI. You support ABN AMRO and its subsidiaries to define, implement, and monitor controls related to data management & AI by creating a strong overview of planning and actions, and tracking them transparently. You know when to build consensus and when to stick to the plan, helping the organisation stay in control and on track for data management and AI obligations.

Your tasks

  • Establishing control roadmaps to plan and monitor the controls that must be implemented for the Central Data Office and Data Domain organisations;
  • Keeping oversight of control reporting to the organisation, ensuring one single view of data management & AI control for the whole bank;
  • Tracking and challenging actions and aligning outcomes with applicable stakeholders, such as senior data leadership, data stewards, and data capability owners;
  • Identifying the specific controls required for regulations (such as BCBS239) as well as more specific cases;
  • Contributing to 2nd line risk framework activities such as Process Risk Assessments, Key Risk Indicators, and Reference Controls;
  • Spotting deviations and helping to keep an overview of them.

Team responsibilities

  • Designing and driving the implementation of processes to formalise data management & AI artefacts such as standards and guidelines;
  • Providing expert guidance and support in adopting data management & AI artefacts;
  • Running the corporate governance Group Data Committee;
  • Driving awareness of data & AI governance.

This role requires switching contexts quickly, being action oriented, and combining strong conceptual capabilities with an understanding of data & AI governance and management, risk management, and the ability to inspire stakeholders to take action.

Working environment

  • You are part of the Central Data Office – Governance & Control team and report to ABN AMRO’s Head of Governance & Control.
  • You interact with senior (leadership) stakeholders in the Data Domain Organisations, specifically those of the BCBS239 program.
  • You interact with other departments in the Central Data Office and with the 2nd line.

There is room to think about the future of data & AI and help determine the agenda for data & AI in the bank. The team works in an open and transparent way where your opinion is valued and dialogue is encouraged. The atmosphere is lively and informal, with a focus on a safe environment where everyone can share thoughts, feelings, and worries. Learning is a key focus, and the team aims to help each other grow.

The team collaborates with all business units, international branches, and subsidiaries of the bank.

Your profile

  • At least 5–7 years of work experience, including proven experience in consulting.
  • A strong getting-things-done personality that helps the team achieve its goals.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders across departments and disciplines.
  • Experience with project management and driving large change programs in complex environments.
  • Experience in Data Governance and Data Management (familiar with DAMA DMBOK, BCBS239, etc.). A strong affinity with Audit, Compliance, or a related field is desirable.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree preferred, preferably in Information Sciences, Business Information Management, Business Administration, Data Management, Legal, Compliance, or a related field (like Risk Management).
  • If you are currently working as a PO, Project Lead, or Program Manager and want to be more involved in the content itself, this role may be especially interesting.

If you don’t meet all the above requirements but have a strong drive to succeed, you are encouraged to apply and highlight your motivation in your cover letter.
