About the role

In this role, you will shape and deliver compelling, differentiated Data and AI experiences that create meaningful customer value. You will lead a world‑class, multidisciplinary team of data designers, design researchers, service designers, UX technologists, and UX designers to push the boundaries of experience innovation.

As part of Philips Experience Design, you will join a truly global creative community. The XD Data & AI team sits within the central Experience Design organization, partnering across businesses and functions to elevate the quality and impact of Data & AI experiences. In this role, you will report to the Head of Design for Philips, within the Innovation & Strategy organization.

Your role

  • Define and drive the strategic direction for Design for AI and Design with AI. This includes UX patterns for AI, a design perspective on responsible AI, exploration and discovery of new use cases, agentic interaction patterns, as well as the development of AI‑powered agents, design tools, and community upskilling initiatives.
  • Ensure excellence in execution and Data & AI experience delivery. You will partner closely with design and business teams to drive high‑quality outcomes within assigned value streams, embedding design deeply in the business context.
  • Shape and lead a strong design innovation agenda focused on patient and staff experience. You will establish, nurture, and leverage clinical and ecosystem partnerships to accelerate meaningful innovation and impact.
  • Build and scale repeatable design enablers that enable seamless, differentiated Data and AI experiences. These frameworks and capabilities will support consistent, high‑quality delivery across teams and domains.
  • Lead and inspire a high‑performing team of approximately 20 designers. You will lead with vision and creativity, fostering an aspirational, motivating, and inclusive environment where diverse talent can thrive.

You are the right fit if

  • You hold a university degree (WO/HBO) in Design, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • You bring proven people‑management experience and a hands‑on leadership style, with strong content expertise at the intersection of design, software, data, and AI.
  • You have a demonstrated track record in setting strategic direction and managing senior stakeholders.
  • You possess deep, hands‑on knowledge of Design, Data, and AI, and can translate complex technologies into meaningful experiences.
  • You fluently combine creative and analytical thinking to contribute a strong design perspective to Data & AI developments.
  • You are experienced in setting up, resourcing, and delivering sizable design programs.
  • You have experience leading and working within Agile environments.
  • Experience in the clinical domain is a strong plus.
