Over 300 talented individuals join our graduate development programme (GDP) each
year, participating in sports, charitable and social events, achieving and having fun
together. Here’s a glimpse of some of the great things you can get involved in as part
of the GDP.

The Forum unites the UK Graduate Community across our 5 businesses, ensuring
every voice is heard and has the power to influence. Representatives from each
business reach out to their respective communities, listening to the needs and
desires of each graduate. The forum turns graduates’ ideas into reality and brings
about not only positive change within the GDP but also across Atkins.

Good times are an essential part of the GDP. These include everything from pub
crawls and meals out, to karting, bouldering or ice skating. Our grads also enjoy
annual trips abroad, they’ve visited the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, gone surfing in
Spain and skiing in France!
This year the grads will be heading to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for their Summer trip to enjoy the comedy, plays and events taking place.

The Atkins Grad Ski Trip has been running since 2012, growing every year and is
now the biggest event on the Graduate social calendar. 110 graduates recently went
to Val Thorens, where they skied and socialised all day and night. It was a great way
to get to know colleagues from offices across the UK. Heads up: Sign up when you
join, last year’s trip sold out in less than half an hour!

Throughout the programme key events bring the community together to reflect on
performance and network with graduate peers. In year one there is a two-day event
with your 300-strong graduate cohort. Year two and three’s events include two-day
workshops to support career and personal development. Year three’s event features
an unforgettable finale with sports activities and a special celebratory dinner.

Many graduates get the opportunity to complete a secondment or placement in a
different part of the Atkins business. If you work in transportation this could mean
visiting Bangalore in India, and for other business areas travelling to our different UK
offices.

A fun-filled event that has seen grads raise hundreds of thousands of pounds since
the challenge began. As well as bringing in much-needed funds for our patronised
charity RedR, activities also help our grads build invaluable networks and friendships
with new colleagues.

At SNC-Lavalin’s Atkins business, you’ll join a place where our teams have created a
strong working and learning environment. We want to be a truly inclusive employer
and that means continuing to improve for the benefit of everyone. We value the
diversity of people because we believe it’s the right thing to do. Our strong staff-
generated groups include LGBT+, Women’s Professional Network, ENABLE
Disability Network and BAME Network. We have also signed the Time to Change
pledge as a commitment to change perceptions and keep positive conversations
going around mental health.

The GDP at SNC-Lavalin’s Atkins business is designed to support you into the world
of work. In appreciation for being part of the team, we offer a range of holistic
benefits which we call ‘Total Reward’. It combines financial rewards, flexible benefits,
learning & development, and can be tailored to meet your changing career and
personal needs as you progress with us.

Our supportive, three year programme puts you in control of your career goals. Join
us and you’ll be part of a project from day one as a valued team member. You can
work towards a professional accreditation, build the skills for a successful long-term
career, and take on great opportunities such as secondments abroad or in different
UK offices.
In your first year you’ll attend a two-day induction and get to meet the other 300+
graduates joining the business. There’s also various workshops and skills building
sessions as well as a dinner and drinks reception. Here’s what you can expect.
