Introduction

This internship takes place within the Portfolio Management function of the Society & Community Engagement (S&CE) team at ASML. S&CE is responsible for building strong relationships with community stakeholders and delivering meaningful societal benefits. The team focuses on Attractive Communities, Inclusive Communities, STEM Education, and Employee Giving, and designs and delivers impactful programs such as GLOW, the ASML Marathon Eindhoven, the Van Gogh Museum partnership, the PSV Brainport Partnership, various educational initiatives for children and youth, and many more. The Portfolio Management function supports the strategic planning, governance, and reporting of these initiatives across ASML’s global sites. As an intern, you will contribute to this work by generating insights that help guide decision-making and enhance ASML’s community engagement strategy.

Your Assignment

You will conduct a peer review and benchmarking study to compare ASML’s community investment and ESG ambitions with those of other large corporates, suppliers, and peers; primarily in the Netherlands, but also across Europe, the United States, and Asia. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in ESG strategy, corporate benchmarking, and portfolio-level decision-making within a global tech environment.

Key deliverables include:

  • Researching corporate social responsibility and ESG strategies of selected peer companies.
  • Analyzing public reports, sustainability disclosures, and community investment initiatives.
  • Summarizing findings in a clear and structured format.
  • Presenting recommendations to the CPP Portfolio Management team.

This is a (thesis) internship for a minimum duration of 4 months. It requires an investment of 32-40 hours per week, out of which 3 days per week are onsite in Veldhoven. It is set to start in February 2026.

Your Profile

To be the perfect match for this internship, you:

  • Are a bachelor or master student in Sustainability, Business Administration, Economics, Communications, Public Policy, or a related field.
  • Have a strong interest in ESG, corporate social responsibility, and social impact.
  • Are analytical, structured, and comfortable working with qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Have strong communication skills and are a self-starter.
  • Are fluent in English, both written and verbally.

Other requirements you need to meet:

  • You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship;
  • Attach your cover letter with a clear motivation why you are interested in this internship assignment in particular;
  • You need to be located in the Netherlands to perform your internship. In case you are currently living/studying outside of the Netherlands, your CV/motivation letter includes the willingness to relocate.
  • If you are a non-EU citizen, studying in the Netherlands, your university is willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement).
