Are you an organisational talent who can organise a fantastic introduction for more than 2,000 students!? Then apply for Student Assistant BA Introduction Days 2026!

Join the Team Organising the VU Bachelor Introduction Days

You will be part of a team of five students responsible for organising an unforgettable week for new students. Together, you will develop new programme components, research and book artists and locations within a set budget, and meticulously plan and script the entire event. Your creativity and organisational skills will help shape a memorable introduction experience for over 2,000 students.

Your Function & Duties

  • Develop a fun and engaging programme for the introduction week.
  • Contact student associations, museums, theatres, artists, and other partners to discuss capacity and costs.
  • Create detailed plans for each event.
  • Supervise and explain programme components during the introduction week, manage access, and assist with event setup and breakdown.
  • Be present during the VU Bachelor Introduction Days, which will take place from Wednesday 19 August to Tuesday 25 August 2026.
  • Depending on your specific role, you may be responsible for:
    • City Day: Organise a day full of museums, workshops, tours, and other activities to introduce participants to the city of Amsterdam.
    • Evening Programme: Coordinate one cultural evening (with shows such as theatre, magic, and drag), one music evening (e.g., at Vondelpark Theater), and the final party (in venues like Melkweg and Paradiso).
    • Campus Days: Manage the arrival day on the VU campus and assist with a morning programme on Monday morning.
    • Sports Day: Organise a day full of sports and activities at Uilenstede.
    • Acquisition: If responsible for acquisition, contact sponsors and advertisers to budget for the introductory programme. This includes liaising with organisations interested in advertising in the intro app or participating in the information market, which is a key component organised by acquisition.

Your Profile

  • You are a VU student.
  • Experience in organising activities or events is not required, but is highly valued.
  • You have a good command of the English language.
  • You are socially skilled and creative.
  • You are familiar with VU and Amsterdam.
  • You possess courage, initiative, and perseverance: you are not afraid to take the first step, break new ground, and persist even when challenges arise.

We recognise that every individual brings a unique set of skills, expertise, and mindset. Therefore, we encourage anyone who identifies with this profile to apply, even if you do not meet all the requirements.

What Do We Offer?

We offer a challenging position in a socially engaged organisation. At VU Amsterdam, you will contribute to education, research, and service for a better world. In return for your efforts, we offer:

  • A gross monthly salary of €2,897.00 (Scale 1) on a full-time basis, based on the UFO profile Administrative Assistant 4. The exact salary depends on your education and experience.
  • A position for at least 0.1 FTE (approximately 6 hours per week and full-time in August). The employment contract lasts 8 months.

Additional attractive fringe benefits and regulations include:

  • A full-time 38-hour working week with a holiday leave entitlement of 232 hours per year. If you choose to work 40 hours, you receive 96 extra holiday leave hours annually. For part-timers, this is calculated pro rata.
